Snorting, I back away. “Nothing scares me.”

“So why haven’t you gotten your day in, Sassy? Why were you hiding from me?”

I shoot Tally a dark look and she shrugs. “I’ll leave you two to deal with your issues.”

“We don’t have any issues!” I call back to her as she runs away, laughing.

My gaze comes back to Steel’s golden-brown eyes. “We don’t have any problems. I’ve just been very busy.”

“Well, I don’t want Cody to have to give that money back so you need to go ahead and take your day. I promise that if you don’t want me to touch you, I won’t. I’ll be the perfect gentleman.”

My inner hussy wails. No!! We don’t want him to be a perfect gentleman.

“Hush!” I hiss under my breath.

“I’m sorry…did you say something?” He asks, his eyes confused.

“I did…not. I’m just trying to clear my throat.”

The skeptical look narrows his hazel eyes and he nods his dark head. “Uh-huh. Anyway. I wanted to make a plan with you for that day. I think tomorrow is good. You’re leaving in a couple days and I don’t want to mess this up.” He stops and takes a deep breath, his bulky chest rising, making my eyes dance over all those damn muscles under his tight t-shirt. “I mean…for Cody.”

I nod my head. “Yes. Right. We should take care of this for Cody.”

“So tomorrow?”

“Sounds good. But I wanted to go into town tonight.” I study Tally’s retreating figure. “I thought about asking Tally if she was still here but she’s moving kind of fast.”

He chuckles and I clench my fists to keep from reaching for him. Tempting. Oh so fucking tempting.

“That’s okay. I’m done for the day if you want me to take you into town.” He holds up a hand when I start to open my mouth. “But just so you know that doesn’t count as your day with a cowboy.”

Ugh! Thought I had him for a minute.

The hellish look of glee on his face lets me know that he thought the same thing.

“Now…do you want me to take you?”

I nod my head and sigh. “Yeah. I want to take a look around the town and maybe pick up a few things.”

“Then I’ll get cleaned up and meet you at your place at seven.”

“Okay. Thank you.”

“No problem, princess.”

My nose scrunches up. “Just so you know, I’m not a big fan of nicknames in the first place but princess is a definite no-no.”

He chuckles. “Gotcha. You’re not a princess.”

“I am not. I’ll go get ready and meet you in about an hour.”

I practically trip over my own two feet when I turn to leave, stumbling.

He reaches out and touches my elbow. I flinch away when a zing of electricity shoots through me so fast that it feels like a lightning bolt. Fire and flames move through me, settling low in my belly. The clenching in my core feels like a deep throbbing ache that needs him. Needs to ride a cowboy like he’s my last chance for a ride. This cowboy. No other.

I stand up and move away, rubbing my elbow absently, the zinging electricity still hiding under my skin.

“Sorry about that,” I say and bolt. Like my ass is on fire. When it actually might be the only thing that isn’t. My whole body feels like one giant sunburn.
