“Good lord,” she growls, her head whipping back and forth. “What if one of the guys sees you?”
“They’ll see that I love my woman. And they better make sure that they don’t ever look cross-eyed at you or I’ll kick their ass.”
Her cinnamon eyes sparkle with laughter even as she groans. “You are a serious caveman, Mr. Carter.”

Her hand comes up to touch my chest and my eyes immediately latch onto the diamond rock on her hand. And that you can see from space so nobody doubts that she’s taken.
She squeals and jumps when Mascot’s lips nibble along her shirt. She pushes me off and I bend over double, laughing my ass off.
I pet the gentle giant and watch my wife grumble as she wipes slobber off her neck.
“It’s okay, buddy. She does that with me sometimes too.”
He whiffles and bobs his head up and down, agreeing with me.
“How do you feel about going to that dance next year?”
“Maybe. I’m sorry we couldn’t make it this year but when you got sick with the flu I knew it wasn’t happening.”
“I was better before it was time to leave.”
“I wasn’t willing to risk you while you were still so worn out.”
“You could have gone.”
I shake my head before she even finishes the sentence. “I will go when you’re ready. I’m not going anywhere without you.”
“Fine. Now.” Her cherry-pink lips tilt up. “Catch me if you can!”
She takes off at a dead run and I watch her, my mouth falling open. Then I whoop and grab my rope. “You better run fast, baby! I got you!”
She giggles and tears out of the barn with me pounding after her, swinging my rope over my head. I let it fly and it settles around her slim shoulders. I jerk it up and she drops to the ground on her ass.
“Are you alright?” I run up to her and turn her to find her laughing so hard that tears run down her cheeks even as she rubs her ass.
“I’m so good. I’ve never been better. I can’t believe that I almost passed this up.” Her hands come up and she caresses my cheeks, the look in her cinnamon eyes making my skin heat. My cock tightens in my jeans.
“I never would have let you.”
“Big words, cowboy! But I’m a stubborn woman and I was convinced that I didn’t need anyone.”
“I need you, Maggie. I’ll always need you.”
Her lips caress mine softly and I can feel her breath dance across my cheeks. “I’ll always need you too, Steel. I need you now,” she whispers. “I’m wearing those red panties you like so much.”
My head comes up and I’m throwing her across my shoulders in seconds with the rope still dangling off her.
I smack her ass. “Let’s go, Magnolia! I want to tear those suckers off of you and smack that pretty ass for tempting me out here in the open where everyone can see.”
She wriggles until she can look over my shoulder. Her dark eyes dance with golden light and she smiles. “Take your shot, cowboy! Make it count!”
I barely make it to the bedroom, throwing her on the bed and falling across her before she can move. I grasp the rope and loosen it, pulling it over her head and slipping it over her wrists, tightening it.
Not by one flicker does she lose the smile. She trusts me. And I’ll make sure that she never has reason to doubt me.
I loop the rope over the headboard. “You good, baby?”
