“...Let’s ask everyone.”

A. took his map back, slowly nodding for some reason.

“What do you mean, everyone?” hissed Thao.

“...Lecky has a decent hacker,” said Tanya.

“...So does the Snake.”

“Fuck you, A.!” roared Thao. “If you think I’m going to ask for help from that bastard Snake–”

“I’ll ask Yasumoto,” said Dante.

“...You?” snorted Thao. “We all know you’re after Old Man Long’s territory too, De Luca. Stay out of there.”

“Stop me.”

All the bodyguards from the Rat’s side reacted this time, pointing their weapons right at Dante. Eden moved immediately, putting herself in front of him. So did the Italian mafiosos, all whipping out their weapons. Thao glared at the young woman.

“What’s the matter with you?” she hissed.

“He told you. I’m the bodyguard,” retorted Eden.

She was feeling strangely calm and composed, for someone with half a dozen weapons pointed her way. Still, she was in business mode right now and focused. She was collected and cool-headed enough to keep facing the Zodiac woman without blinking. Thao seemed to hesitate, facing a woman who wouldn’t get out of her path. She glanced up at Dante, who was still taller than his partner.

“...You wry bastard...”

Dante answered with a chuckle, taking another drag of his cigarette. For a while, they kept glaring at each other, both sides tense. The only two to not care were Tanya and A. The Russian sighed.

“I’ll contact King and Lecky. A., if those two kill each other, you contact the others.”

A. nodded, his eyes shortly going to Eden again.

“...If he can contact Ghost, we need him,” he said to Thao.

“Ghost can work for us too,” she retorted.

“Not anymore,” smirked Dante.

This only aggravated the woman, who looked even more pissed.

“Yasumoto is mine, De Luca. Don’t touch him.”

“Then you two kill each other quickly. I want the Old Man’s territory soon.”

“Enough, you two,” grumbled Tanya, crossing her arms. “You can sort this out later. Unless you haven’t noticed, we have other priorities now. Either you convince Yasumoto to help or you get rid of him and take his territory. The rest can wait.”

“...It’s a race, then,” chuckled Dante.

“Just you wait,” hissed Thao.

Eden could barely believe her ears. Did they both just agree to try and kill the Snake? This was like her hearing a conversation out of this world. They were bantering about this like two children bragging about some brand-new toy they wanted to get their hands on... They were dangerous, all of them. No matter how slim and elegant that woman looked, Eden could recognize the face of a cold-blooded killer. The four of them were no children. They were no ordinary humans either. They were the Zodiacs, four of the people who controlled a whole city with fear and violence.

Suddenly, Dante tightened his grip around Eden a little, pulling her closer to him and taking her out of her thoughts.

“...Are we done here?” he asked the other two.

“I don’t care how, but make sure you contact Ghost and get them to work for us,” said Tanya. “We’re going to need all the best hackers in Chicago if we’re going up against the Core...”
