“Up and down! Up and down! Come on, my little canned sardines! Shake it!”

Eden glanced back to see Circé roll her eyes before going back to her screen. As long as Loir was in control... Suddenly, the elevators slowly went back to their floor, and the doors opened. The robots all fell down, flattened from the bottom and the top, and looked like dwarfed versions of themselves. Eden chuckled. The doors then closed and went downstairs, probably to let more of Dante’s men in once they would have gotten rid of the robots.

“See, my Kitty? Easy peasy! That’s one less problem without ya~” sung Loir.

Meanwhile, the other elevators finally arrived, and more of Dante’s men barged in and spread out in the area. They also had more ammunition now, and everyone reloaded their weapons to prepare for what was coming next.

“Good job,” said Eden to Loir, walking up to Circé. “...What do you have?”

“Not much. These are basic office computers, they don’t have much access, but the Dive Hackers will take care of the rest... How are you holding up?”

“...I’m trying not to think about it.”

Circé sighed, and stood back up to face her, done with the computer.

“Eden, you know how these people are. Either they don’t have your mother and they are going to make you believe they do, or they do have her, and they are going to use her anyway. You might never know the truth. They will use whatever they’ve got against you. It’s all up to what you choose to believe, and what you choose to fight for.”

“...I know.”

Eden nodded. In fact, she didn’t want to discuss this anymore. She didn’t want to even think about this. She knew that the Governor was going to use her, manipulate her because of what she was capable of. She brushed her hair back and nodded.

“Come on, let’s move.”

Dante arrived next to her, quickly reloading her guns for her. They exchanged a brief smile.

“Not tired yet?” she asked.

“Never. I’m considering this our honeymoon.”

“You like it extravagant,” she chuckled.

“Guns and bombs. Exactly our style,” Dante nodded, giving her a quick kiss on her forehead.

Eden smiled, this little interaction immediately making her feel better. Ironically, that had been the same when they first met, and on their first date. Technically, today was even their wedding day... She sighed. If this was all over one day, she wondered if he’d find another way to cause trouble somewhere for their future dates.

“Let’s go,” said Dante, a bit louder for everyone. “Everyone split up between both sets of stairs.”

His men nodded, and without another word, they split up. Rolf led one group to the smaller stairs Greed had mentioned, while Eden and Dante took the main ones, with Circé somewhere behind them. They could still hear some noise coming from above, so they were expecting more fighting soon.

“We just need to get to their computer systems,” said Circé. “As long as we can get there, we will be able to Dive and take them down from the inside.”

“We need to hold a siege on the sixtieth floor,” nodded Eden. “If we can take control of the tower, the rest will probably be easy. I also need to reach Pan...”

Eden was worried that her master had been completely mute since the beginning of the fighting. She had a bad feeling about this, and a part of her was hoping he was alright.

“Tanya,” Dante called.

“We are doing fine!” she grunted back. “Those pieces of crap have mostly left to defend their center, so they’re bringing the party to you guys!”

“We’re not far,” said Michael. “We’re going to get to one of their power sources soon, it might give you guys an advantage if we manage to disable it...”

“Disable it? It’s a power generator, not a time bomb!” scoffed Tanya. “Let’s just blow up the damn thing!”

“If that makes you happy,” sighed Michael. “Either way, don’t worry about us, guys. A., Lecky, how about you?”

“They sent missiles to the Suburbs, just as we had feared,” replied Lecky. “Thank God we had evacuated everyone there. They haven’t reached the slums yet, but... even if they don’t go that far, I’m worried there won’t be much left of the Suburbs if you don’t hurry up, guys. We’ve got reports of more Overcrafts coming over here. If they send units to search the area, they will notice the buildings are empty.”

The situation was more urgent in the Suburbs. While the other Zodiacs kept exchanging, Eden was listening, but also focused on their progression. They climbed the next couple of floors without too much trouble, but the noise was clearly coming from above, on the fifty-eighth floor. She was sure the robots were lying in wait upstairs, probably ready to shoot the second they appeared at the door. This time, the elevator or stairs wouldn’t change a thing.
