We fly over a lit field in the middle of nowhere and I look out the window, prompting Cassidy to do the same. “Your favorite, sunflowers,” I say.

She looks out of the window at the field, picked in a pattern she doesn’t understand yet until the helicopter flies higher and higher. Then she can see the words ‘Will you marry me?’ cut into the field.

Cassidy’s hands move over her mouth, tears stream from her eyes and when she looks back to me, I’m kneeling in front of her with a blue velvet box.

“Oh my gosh, Ethan!” she gasps.

I open the box and show her a dazzling black and yellow diamond flower on a white gold band.

“This is the pendant from the necklace I wanted to give you on our first date. I hope you’ll accept it this time,” I smile. “Cassidy, will you marry me?”

Cassidy sits shocked, her hands still over her mouth trembling.

“This is your cue to speak,” I laugh nervously.

“Yes,” she squeals. “Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes!”
