“You owe me then,” she said on a yawn.

“What would you like? Name it.”

A soft snore came from her and he couldn’t help but smile.

She was his now, and he had all the time in the world to spend with her.

Greer paid the grocery bill with a wince.

Ouch. That was going to put a real dent in her account. She’d be broke until payday. She was slightly behind after traveling, then having to rest her wrist for a couple of days. However, she was now managing to get some work done.

She’d been in Billings for over a week and this was the first time she’d been able to go out by herself.

It still didn’t feel right. She had this weird feeling of being watched. Which was stupid.

Matthew Jorgen was dead.

And her other issue . . . well, there was no way that had followed her here.

Nope. She refused to think about that remote possibility.

She placed her groceries into the back of Aidan’s SUV. She’d need to call Razor and see how her car was getting on.

As she climbed in, she put it in reverse just as her phone beeped. Oh, that was likely Hack. He was working at the hospital today.

The last few nights, she’d slept snuggled up against him and it had been bliss. No nightmares. She felt more rested than she had in years.

But this was her first day on her own. Which was a good thing. She needed to feel some independence.

Or that’s what she told herself.

She slid out of the parking space, slamming on the brakes at the sound of a horn blasting. Had she hit something? She looked in the rearview mirror to find a silver car behind her.

Oh shit.

Shaking, she climbed out and walked around to look at the damage. Had she scratched Aidan’s SUV? What about the other car?

“What the fuck do you think you were doing?”

She jumped, looking over as the driver of the other car got out, waving his hands around as he screamed at her. He was dressed in a nice suit, and his car was a late-model BMW.

Shit that meant it was probably going to be even more expensive to fix.

“Are you fucking blind?” the guy screamed.

She just stared at him wide-eyed.

“I was right behind you! How could you not see me, you stupid bitch!”

Say something. Tell him to be quiet. To shut up.

But she simply stared at him. She could feel herself shutting down. Conflict wasn’t something she was good at handling. But especially when she was already feeling shaken and wary.

“Well? What’s wrong with you? Are you fucking dumb, you stupid bitch!”

She couldn’t breathe. Crap. Dark spots danced in front of her eyes as panic held her in its grasp.
