She nibbled at her lip, but eventually nodded.

“I’m going to order some pizza and we’re going to eat and watch some mindless TV, okay? Then bed.”

“I still don’t see how the lasagna caught on fire like that . . . even if you did forget about it.”

She gave him another guilty look. “I don’t know if I had it on the right setting on the oven. All the pictures are so small. I couldn’t really see them properly.”

Right.

“Greer, have you ever had your eyes tested?”

She stared up at him. “Umm, no? Why?”

“I think you know why. You’re having trouble seeing things, aren’t you? I’ve noticed you struggle to read things like menus or what’s on the phone without zooming in.”

“Shoot. I guess so.”

“And sometimes you get headaches that are probably due to your eyes straining.”

“I don’t want glasses, though,” she wailed. “What if they look funny? What if I keep losing them? And how can I afford them?”

“They’re not going to look funny, and you probably won’t need to wear them all the time. I’m going to schedule an appointment.”

“Will you come with me?”

“Of course I will, baby. But from now on, you’re not to use the oven or stovetop without me here, understand?”

“Yes, Daddy.”

“That’s my good Little girl.”

“I’m not really a good girl. And I still think you should punish me.”

“You feel that badly?”

She nodded.

“I don’t want to punish you for an accident, but I also don’t like to see you so upset. I do owe you a spanking for not calling me straight after you had that run-in today. But I was going to give you that tomorrow.”

“No, Daddy. Please. I can’t wait that long. Please.”

He eyed her. Maybe this would help her feel better. He didn’t want her worrying about this all night. He lifted her off his lap.

“All right.” He walked to the bed, thinking it would be easier than if stayed sitting on the chair. “Over my knee, then.”

He helped her climb over his lap, not wanting to risk her hurting herself. When she was settled into place, he drew down her pajama pants.

She squirmed slightly and he gave her ass a light tap. “Stay still.”

“Sorry, Daddy.”

“Remember at any time, you can say your safeword. And I expect you to if you’re overwhelmed, scared, if you’re in too much pain, understand?”

“Yes, Daddy. I understand.”

“That’s my good girl.”
