“I’m going to call in sick. I’ll call Stone and tell him not to come.”

She shook her head and placing Wally down, she turned in his lap to cup his face between her hands. “No, Daddy. The people at the hospital need you. I’m fine.”
“You are not fine. And I wouldn’t be able to work worrying about you anyway.”
She nibbled at her lip.
“I want to be here with you. We’ll have a Daddy/Little Greer day. We’ll do some drawing, watch some cartoons, and eat ice cream.”
“You had me at cartoons, but you sold it with ice cream.”
He grinned.
“Can we also play ride ’em cowboy?”
“What is that?”
“It’s where you pretend to be a horsie and I’m the cowboy. Yee-ha!”
“Let me make a few calls, and then you can explain that more to me.” He sent a text off to Stone and Ink before calling into the hospital. When he returned to the living room, she was staring off into the distance and he could tell she was still obsessing over that asshole.
“I’ve got some good news.”
She gasped and turned, her hand on her chest. Fuck.
“Sorry, Ladybug. Didn’t mean to scare you.”
“No, that’s okay. I was dreaming. What is it?”
“Your car is ready. Razor is going to have one of his boys drop it off this afternoon.”
“That’s good timing since Aidan gets back tomorrow.”
It had taken a while because he’d asked Razor to find someone to basically rebuild the whole thing and make it as safe as possible for her.
“Shit, that’s right. Were you going to pick them up?”
“Uh-huh.”
“We’ll need to arrange for someone else to get them.”
“What? Why?”
“I don’t want you leaving the house.”
“But I really want to see them. Can’t Stone come with me?”
“I still don’t like it, baby girl.”
“I’ll be super careful and wait out in the car with Stone. Please, Daddy.”
“I’ll talk to Ink about it. Now, why don’t you tell me more about this game of yours.”
