He looked at where their bodies joined, feasting his gaze on the petite bundle of silk in which he was wrapped and her bare freckled legs tangled around his waist. Her quick breaths made her chest rise and fall under her brilliant robe. Supporting her with his magic, he put both hands on her breasts and stroked their contours through the silk, letting her feel the caress of the fabric and his hands.

“I’ve decided…” She swallowed. “…there is nothing else like making love in silk. It makes me feel…beautiful.”

“You make it beautiful.”

“I do love your glass tongue, Sir Diplomat.”

“It’s at your service.” He licked her neck in one long, slow stroke.

She tilted her head back, baring her throat as eagerly as ever. He tongued and licked and teased her there, adoring her skin and the vein beneath, which she shared with him so generously. To think, this was to be his eternity. No more doubts. No more fear of losing each other. They began that eternity tonight. Cassia baring her throat, night after night, him losing himself inside her. Until at last the night would come when he too could bare his throat for her and feel her bite.

“I love you,” he vowed against her throat.

“Lio,” she gasped, “I love you so much.”

Lio sank his fangs into his Grace, knowing it would not be the last time, and it thrilled him just like the first time. The taste of her blood was a stunning revelation. Everything their first drink had made him dare long for was now theirs.

He let his hunger move him. Need drove him to devour her. He braced his feet on the floor and thrust inside her, satisfying the urge her every smile and step and touch had built and built during their long night of dancing.

Her exultation slammed through the Union, levitating him off the floor, until it was his own magic that gave him the leverage to move their bodies. She held him to her with her legs, tilting her hips to make her krana open to him, and let him set the pace.

Her mind cried out her thoughts, and he drank them down through the constant rivulets of Union they had nurtured all night long. Their Union sucked him deeper in, down under its current. Yes, he needed to get deeper inside her. To fill himself up even more with her.

Her thoughts throbbed through his veins. She was living her wildest imaginings. She didn’t want it to end.

He fed her the certainty, filling her up with it in return. It would never end.

It will never end, Cassia.

Lio!

He gasped aloud. She—her voice—her words—echoed within his heart.

Lio! I can hear you inside me.

She was pure music. A heated caress. A dose of blood right to his spirit. He groaned aloud, digging his fingers into her hips with the effort not to climax. His head fell back, and her blood slid down his throat.Cassia. You’re so beautiful.

Oh, Lio, your voice. It’s incredible.

He didn’t know how to try to speak inside her. He didn’t have to try.Cassia. My love, my Grace. You are astonishing.

Don’t stop.

He sank his fangs into her neck again to drink her blood and her voice. She let out a cry, and then her krana gripped around him. Her climax resounded through him as her voice had. Waves of pleasure pounded his body, and he spilled into her in wild thrusts. His jaw locked on her throat, and his throat kept swallowing her blood, feeding his Craving again and again.

When the pleasure ceased to carry them, his feet hit the floor. He stumbled a little and groped for the pillar to steady himself. Cassia clung to him, her thighs trembling.

He eased out of her and gathered her into his arms. He carried her over to their bed and sank down onto the blanket with her. They lay there holding each other, she catching her breath.

He let out an elated laugh. “It happened again.”

She swallowed. “I was afraid only danger could push our minds that close. That Union we felt during the battle seemed to shatter with your window.”

“No, Cassia. What we tasted that night was Grace Union, the Blood Union only Graces share.”

“When I am Hesperine and experience the Blood Union, will we be able to speak in each other’s minds all the time?”

“Without effort. I’ve heard that’s what it’s like. Graces talk all around it, as if it’s difficult to describe. But we’re told Grace Union is something deeper and more powerful than any Blood Union or mind magery can achieve.”
