“Yes.”

It was the most he could manage.

Romeo smiled. “Good.”

He spun Chad around and pushed him onto the bed.

The bed they were about to make very dirty.

Chapter Two

Chad forced his eyes open at the sound of buzzing. He reached out a hand just as another snaked around his chest and held him tight.

“I’ve got to get it.” He mumbled into his pillow. The arm around him tightened and pulled him away from the buzzing.

“It’s 3:00 in the morning,” Romeo growled against his neck. He sunk his teeth in as he drew Chad into his chest, making him shiver.

“Which means it’s probably important.”

“What’s more important than me?”

“Nothing, but…”

“Duty calls.” Romeo sighed as he released Chad and shuffled upright. He leaned against the headboard as Chad answered the call.

Chad didn’t have a chance to say hello, the niceties weren’t needed in his profession, and the DI’s grim voice confirmed what he’d suspected.

“We’ve got a body. Ally is on her way to get you.”

The DI didn’t waste words on greetings, or goodbyes. Chad dropped the phone on the bed and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. “I’ve got to get ready.”

He slipped off the side of the bed, swaying slightly as he made his way to the closet.

“Don’t forget your thermals,” Romeo said. “It’s cold.”

Chad rolled his eyes and shoved on a thermal t-shirt. “Satisfied?”

“I’ll only be satisfied when you come back to bed.”

He picked out a clean shirt, and a pair of ironed pants while yawning into the back of his hand. Romeo shuffled back down the bed and spread out with a satisfied groan.

“Don’t rub it in,” Chad said.

“I’m not,” Romeo smirked, curling the duvet around him while Chad shivered as he pulled his clothes on.

He slipped into the bathroom, slapped water on his face, scrubbed his teeth, and gave himself a faint coating of deodorant. When he returned to the bedroom, Romeo was nestled in the duvet, making a noise close to a purr.

“You’re cruel.”

“Positivelyevil.”

Chad spotted a clump of dirt on the floor and crouched down to grab it. His phone buzzed as Ally triggered one of the camera sensors.

“My ride’s here,” Chad said, standing up with the clump of the field in the palm of his hand. “Kiss goodbye?”

“Obviously,” Romeo smirked, leaning up, mouth at the ready.

Chad leaned in to kiss him while smearing his dirty hand through Romeo’s hair. He pulled away with a smile and returned to kiss Romeo on the nose.
