“Nope. I sound like a man in love. A man who wants to make your life perfect. Who wants to give you everything that you love and desire.”

He drops down to one knee and my jaw almost hits the floor. Brightly-dressed passengers stop and watch the man holding out a box with the most beautiful ring that I’ve ever seen. Platinum with small diamonds surrounding a larger one like the center of the galaxy and all the planets orbiting around it.

I shake my head but he ignores me. “I love you desperately, Raven. It’s all I’ve been thinking about for weeks. Being alone with you and raising our family, making every dream of yours come true is all I want in this life.”

“What if I don’t want to have kids?”

His shoulders drop and he sighs. “Then we don’t have kids. It doesn’t matter to me as long as I have you. My perfect mate.”

I smile through my tears, trying not to completely lose my cool. “I don’t know if I’m perfect or not, but I am willing to give this a shot.” I stop and point my finger at him.

“But you better tell me everything from now on.”

“I’ll tell you every damn thing from now on.”

“Good.”

“I want one more thing, Roderick.”

“Name it and it’s yours.”

“I want you to promise me that we’ll always be here for each other. That we’ll always talk before we go to bed. That you’ll never hide anything from me.”

“I can promise you that, princess. As long as you tell me that you love me, I’m yours with every damn piece of me.”

“I do love you, Roderick.” I hold out my shaking hand and he slips the ring on my finger. It fits perfect. “I wanted not to but I just couldn’t stop myself from falling for you. You’re too damn sweet.”

He lifts a brow. “I don’t think sweet is the word you’re looking for. I think you were thinking of sexy.”

“Potato, potahto.” I throw my arms around him as soon as he stands up and his lips find mine, warm and loving and perfect.

That one touch finds the cracks in my heart and fills them with his love. He lifts me up and twirls me around and I laugh, joy winging through me.

This is where I belong. I’ve spent all my life traveling and I wasn’t sure why. Now I know. I was searching for him. My one true love.

The man who fills all the little lost places in my soul and brings me to life.

And if I’m really lucky, I’ll have a lifetime to show him how happy he makes me and how much I love him.

EPILOGUE RAVEN

“Well, we’re home, princess.” We pull up to a nice, little two story house with a huge front porch just like I dreamed of when I was a little girl. The kind with the potted flowers hanging from the joists and the wooden porch swing to swing on when we want to get some cooler air in the summer evenings. Where I can curl up into his big body and put my head and hands on his broad chest and watch our children play in the front yard.

I step out of the suv, awe on my face. I spin to face Roderick. “This place is beautiful. The whole town is just so charming. I’ve never even heard of Hallow Falls.”

He chuckles and a shiver rolls down my spine at the low, gritty sound. “Yeah. It’s a well-kept secret. I want you to meet my best friend soon. But not tonight. Maybe not tomorrow night either.” Heat curls in his deep amber eyes and my belly flips inside out. I know that look.

I’d bet money I’ve got the same look on my face. But I have to make him work for it. Nothing’s free.

I hold my hand out and grin. “Oh no you don’t! I’m not going to let you keep me holed up in your house and have your way with me until neither of us can even breathe!” I’m kidding. That sounds like the perfect way to spend the next millennium or so.

He cocks his head to the side and his eyes narrow on me. “Really, princess? Cause I feel like that’s exactly what you want and you’re just playing with me. Are you playing with me, princess?” He stalks me around the side of the suv and I run to the other side, laughing.

“I’m not kidding! I want to meet some people and see this new town. Maybe I could write a travel blog about Hallow Falls. Is there anything special about this place?”

He corners me until I’m backed up against the side of the car and then lifts his hand to ruffle my hair before he slides a hank of my hair into his hand and wraps it up, tilting my head back so that his lips can drift along my throat. Tingles shoot through my body like little jolts of electricity in my bloodstream.

“There wasn’t anything at all special about this place. Until you stepped foot into it. Now it’s the most perfect place in the world.”
