“Yeah, there should be another box of it at the back bar,” I called out. I didn’t want to open the door and have one of my employees catch me in the closet with one of our guests. It might set a bad precedent.

“Thanks,” the employee called back before we heard footsteps retreating from the storeroom.

“Well, as fun as this was, I’m a bit tired of hiding,” Snow said. “I think I might head back to my room for a bit and get some writing done. I appreciate your help tonight, Jason.”

“Anytime,” I said. “Would you like me to walk you back to your cottage?”

“I think I’ll be okay.”

“At least let me guide you out the back way, he won’t see you leave from there.”

“I appreciate that,” she said.

We left the storeroom, and I ushered her to the employee entrance into the club. She could exit through that door and slip away unseen.

“Thanks again,” she said as she paused near the exit.

“I hope to see more of you around here. Don’t let that asshole prevent you from having fun. If he causes any problems here, he’ll be out, I promise you.”

She scrunched up her nose. “I don’t want it to turn into an issue. I still have to work with him. As long as he’s behaving, I think it’s fine.”

“I hope so.”

I held open the door and the raven-haired beauty slipped away. I wasn’t sure how long she was staying with us, but I looked forward to seeing a lot more of her.

And perhaps breaking my rule for the first time ever.

“Whoa, hey there!” I called out as someone came out of the back of the club, but it was too late.

“Oh no!” The woman called out as she ran smack dab into me. My laptop fell to the ground with a loud crunch, but my concern was on the woman who was half the size of me. It was likely similar to running into a wall.

“You okay?” I asked. My nostrils itched and I made sure to step back and cover my nose before letting out a round of sneezes.

“I’m more worried about you,” she replied.

“I’m fine,” I said, as I sneezed again. “Do you have cats, by chance?”

“I do.”

“That explains it. I may look like a big tough guy, but cat hair is my kryptonite.”

I raised an eyebrow as I realized that she was coming out of the employee entrance, and I knew she was not an employee.

We both leaned down to pick up my laptop at the same time, then chuckled awkwardly. I grabbed it and looked over at the sign on the door. She followed my gaze to the sign that clearly stated it was for employees only.

“Sorry, Jason helped me slip out the back to avoid someone,” she said. She reached out her hand to shake mine. “I’m Snow. I’m writing an article about the resort.”

Ah, yes. Reed had told me about her and that she had an admirer that had seemingly followed her here. It all started to make sense now.

“Anthony. I’m in charge of the?the?” I had stepped too close, once again letting out a few obnoxiously loud sneezes, stepping away and covering my nose as I did. “Sorry,” I said once I could talk again. “What I was trying to say was—”

More sneezes.

Jesus.
