Rosie started lecturing me about safety and how I really should have called the police, and I knew she meant well so I let her do it. When she finally stopped and caught her breath, I asked, “Feel better?”

“Why are you so calm and I’m the one freaking out?” she asked.

I shrugged and rolled over to my side. “Probably because I know I’m safe here, that there's no way he can get to me now and I’ll deal with the rest when I get back.”

“Snow—”

I quickly changed the subject. “The guys here, they are all so protective. All of them came to my room last night after it happened to make sure I was okay. They aren’t going to let anything happen to me, Rosie.”

She was quiet again, and I noticed she had since parked the car. She was likely in the parking lot of the office, and checking the time, I knew she had to get going.

I didn’t want her to worry about me. I knew I would be fine.

“Alright, but let me know if anything else happens, and when you get back, we’re going to look into getting you a security system for your apartment.”

“Already planning on it,” I said.

“Good. Hopefully I don’t see that asswipe today because I won’t be able to hold my tongue.”

“I think he’s still technically on vacation for the rest of the week, unless he decides to go back early.”

“I hope he doesn’t. I hope he’s too ashamed to show his face in this office ever again.”

“Wouldn’t that be ideal.” And it would be, but I also knew better than to count on it. Hunter was devoted to the company, and to Hilda, even if it didn’t seem like he shared the same romantic feelings as she did. He got a lot of perks and was treated well. It was too cushy of a job for him to just leave.

“I should let you get to work, but we can talk later.”

“We better,” Rosie said. “And here’s hoping you have a lot more sexy fun now that Hunter is gone.”

“Oh I plan on it, trust me. Love you.” I smiled as I hung up the phone. I wasn’t going to let Hunter’s antics affect me or ruin my remaining time there. With him gone, I could explore and do whatever the hell I wanted. Maybe I’d find one of the clothing optional pools or book myself a massage. The world was my oyster.

I rolled out of bed and went downstairs to my laptop. I opened it up and stared at the blank word document that was taunting me. I sighed. What could I write about, all the sex I’d had? I wasn't submitting an article to Penthouse, though maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea if it kept getting rejected, I joked with myself.

I switched over to my email and scanned for any new messages from editors. Nothing. Nada. Not even a rejection. Maybe no news was good news since I had a few more pitches out in the ether, but no acceptances there either.

My stomach growled, and I knew that I would work better with some coffee. Caffeine always made writing come easier. The brochure boasted about the delicious breakfast buffet, with a coffee bar that was open and ready to serve.

I loved the sound of that. I closed my laptop and began to get ready for my day.

Iwaited as the last of my friends entered the meeting room. Jason dragged his ass in and collapsed in a seat, seemingly half asleep still. We’d all had a late night. It hadn’t ended when we left Snow’s room, and many of us couldn’t sleep afterward.

I knew Gage hadn’t been to bed yet, but he didn’t look tired. Just grumpy. But that was his normal appearance, nothing new there. He’d stayed up all night watching the cameras and waiting for Hunter to try anything. He was looking for any excuse to beat the man’s ass, and not a single one of us at the table could blame him for that.

“Alright, I know you’re all tired.”

“That’s the understatement of the fucking year,” Jason muttered.

“I know, but we still need to be on our toes today,” I said. “I doubt he would be stupid enough to come back, but just in case, we need to be on the lookout. Gage, you should get some rest—”

“I’m fine,” he said.

“You need sleep.”

“I said I’m fine,” he reiterated, his tone serious.
