He shrugged. “Somewhat. But I’ve always wanted children. I was starting to think it might not happen for me unless I were to meet someone in the next few years. Then Snow came along. And now the baby. I’m actually pretty excited about the prospect of it.”

“I never thought I’d be a dad,” I told him. Even if I wasn’t, I knew that I cared about Snow. I would protect her at all costs, and that included her child.

Ourchild, possibly.

Another voice sounded from behind me. Jason. “I was just talking to Snow the other day about this. All my life, I didn’t want kids, but the last few years, I’ve really been thinking about it.”

I turned to face him, a dopey smile on his face. He seemed to have absolutely no idea what was going on.

Doc and I shared a look knowing we were both thinking the same thing. Doc shook his head as if reading my mind.

“He deserves to know,” I said.

“It’s not our news to tell,” Doc disagreed.

I sighed heavily, knowing deep down I agreed with him. I knew it was the right thing to do. Jason just stared at us with a strange look on his face, trying so hard to piece the puzzle together.

“Wait a second, is Snow...” His eyes widened. “Shit, she is!”

“Shh,” Doc said, looking around to see if the others were nearby. “It’s Snow’s news to tell, not ours.”

“You mean that she’s pregnant, right?” Jason asked.

Sometimes, he wasn’t the brightest bulb on the tree. Doc wrapped an arm over his shoulder, struggling not to laugh. He didn’t answer, because maybe it was better if Jason couldn’t piece together the story.

I decided to change the subject, slightly. “I’m worried about her,” I said.

“Me too,” Doc agreed, turning serious all of a sudden. “Based on what she’s said about her stepmom, I don’t see her as the type to admit that she’d made a mistake and hire Snow back. Something’s up.”

“And she’s not answering her phone.”

“Exactly,” Doc said.

Jason finally spoke up again. “Wait, so if she’s pregnant, and we had sex with her recently… does this mean?”

I patted the guy on the back as he realized what was going on. Thankfully, Doc was next to him, because like me, Jason’s legs seemed to turn to goo. “Oh wow, we could be fathers,” he said, grinning from ear to ear.

“Yeah, one of us will be,” I said.

“Why just one of us? She doesn’t have to settle for only one of us to help her with the baby,” Jason said.

Doc and I looked at one another. Seeing as we had all shared her already Jason had a point. “We’ll leave it up to her when we see her again,” I said.

“We need to go to her. I think you guys are right, something feels off. And even if everything is fine, I’m sure she’d love the surprise of seeing us again.” Jason looked at Doc and I with pleading and concerned eyes.

Again, Doc and I shared a look. He had just made another good point.

“I can’t argue with that,” I said.

Doc agreed. “Sounds like we’re taking a road trip.”

If anything, it would be a good distraction from the case with Hunter. And God knows, I needed a distraction.

“Thank God, I was worried, did you forget your key?” An unfamiliar voice called from the other side of the door. The door swung open and there stood a young, petite woman but it wasn’t Snow. She stared at us up and down before asking, “Who are you?”
