What’s below it is nearly impossible, though. An aquarium that fills most of the floor below us with water that glows blue. Jellyfish float under our feet. Lionfish prowl the plants, looking for prey that will never be there. Angelfish swim through the throngs of sea life, their wispy white fins almost glowing in the blue light.

It’s not something you could find anywhere else in the world and probably should be impossible. Except that this building was designed with this rooftop in mind. That’s what happens when you’re one of the richest people in the world. People design skyscrapers around your craziness.

“You’re not on drugs. I’ve been here before, and it was just as crazy then as it is now. Yes, those fish are alive.”

Addison just stares in awe at everything under her feet. “How the hell did you manage this? You’re just as broke as me.”

I chuckle and say, “I may not have any money, but that doesn’t change that I’m a billionaire. The guy who owns this penthouse doesn’t know that anything’s changed. He just jumped at the chance to repay a debt to me.”

Addison walks to the edge of the pool and shakes her head. “There aren’t any fish in the pool?”

“Nope. There’s a very thick piece of glass separating the pool from the aquarium.”

She shivers as I put my hand on her lower back. When she looks up at me, she’s got this strange mix of excitement and terror in her eyes. “Alright, so where do we change?”

I grin, and without saying a word, I turn her toward me. Her bottom lip quivers as I move my fingers to the buttons on her blouse. The cornflower blue satin shimmers in the light from the aquarium.

“No one’s here.” The first button comes undone, and my fingers move to the next one. “The door to the penthouse is locked.” Her white bra comes into view as the next button comes loose.

“But what about the other buildings?” she whispers as I undo the rest. “They’ll see us.”

I grin and pull the blouse open. “So let them see. No one knows who you are, and no one cares who I am. I doubt anyone from work can see us.”

Addison shivers as I run my fingers between her breasts. “You can always say no,” I whisper, leaning in and letting my lips tickle her neck. I say that, but my hands are already moving to her skirt, slowly pulling it down.

She doesn’t stop me. “I’m nervous,” she whispers back.

“Then just trust me, Addison. Sometimes you need someone to guide you when you’re doing something crazy. Like getting naked on a rooftop and swimming with fish.”

She grins. “Or trying to work a coffeemaker.”

“That too,” I say at the same time that her skirt falls to the glass below us. She shivers, and the air is still warm.

“Well, are you going to take off any of your clothes? Or is this just a prank where everyone from the office is going to jump out and I’ll have to move back to Kansas City so I never have to see them again?”

I take a step back and slowly undo my tie. God, she looks so beautiful tonight. The blue and purple lights make her seem almost alien. Like she belongs in this bizarre place where fish swim hundreds of feet above the ground.

The tie hits the ground, and I pull the ruby red shirt out from my pants. For the first time, I don’t pay any attention to the stain as my fingers can’t move fast enough. I can’t pay attention to anything but her, and like Addison said earlier, I’m sure I’m being creepy just staring at her in her underwear. How could any straight man do anything different?

As soon as my shirt’s on the glass, I kick off my shoes and yank my socks off. Addison’s watching me just as much as I was watching her. She giggles as I hop around for a minute trying to get the damn sock off.

“You know, I thought we were going to wear swimsuits,” she says.

“You could if you want to, and I guess this would actually be a roommate adventure then. But I didn’t ask you to go on a roommate adventure. Those were your words.”

She bites her lip as I move my hands to my pants. “If that’s the case, I’ll go downstairs and change. But I’ve never gone skinny dipping before, much less on a rooftop pool with angelfish underneath me.”

It only takes a second for her to stop me. “No. I want to do this.” It sounds like she’s talking herself up to it.

I didn’t walk away from my fortune to sit around Addison’s apartment playing house. I wanted to do things I’d never done before. The goal was to experience as much as I could in a single month. Like I just told Addison, I’d never gone skinny dipping before, and there’s nobody else in the world that I’d rather do it with for the first time.

She grins. “This is freaking insane, Phillip. Then again, everything with you is at least slightly insane, and I’m here for it.” She reaches around and undoes her bra, letting it fall to her feet, and just as quick, she pulls her panties to the floor. When she stands up, I’m just staring at her, a grin on my face.

And I yell, “Surprise!” and turn toward the door as though people are about to barge onto the rooftop.

She shrieks and covers up, fully expecting that exact thing to happen. Except it doesn’t, and I just start laughing. It takes her a second, but she finally stands back up, exposing herself at least a little. If dirty looks could burn people, I’d be a heap of ash with the way she’s looking at me.

“You’re such an asshole,” she whisper-yells at me. I don’t respond. Instead, I just walk up to her and run my hand through her hair. For a moment, she thinks about pulling away, but I don’t let her and as my grip tightens, I pull her head back.
