"I’m not sure if this is considered breach of decorum," I started, carefully eyeing him for a reaction, "But the least you can do is buy me a drink."

"When you’re sitting next to me looking like that, I will buy you whatever you want," he said, shaking his head.

"Flattery has always been a strong suit of yours," I laughed. "I am not going to believe you until you put your money where your mouth is."

"Trust me," he muttered under his breath. "I want to put my mouth there right now."

I felt my entire body fill with a tingling sensation as soon as I realized that he was flirting with me. And I was openly flirting back, despite our conversation about not doing this anymore.

I was treading a dangerous line. What we were doing could be completely harmless. After all, we were not in the office at this moment and given our history maybe this was appropriate. Another part of me felt unsure. I didn't know if I could trust myself around him. Knowing him, he could charm me out of my clothes by just staring at me sitting next to me. Should I really trust myself to drink alone with him like this?

"You're lost in your thoughts," his deep voice brought me back to reality. "What's on your mind?"

I sucked in a deep breath. "I just think that we should not forget what we spoke about earlier."

If he was disappointed, he didn't let it show. Instead, he just called the bartender over and ordered a drink for me.

"Maybe a drink will help you relax a bit," he said.

"Dylan," I said seriously. "I am not joking. I don't think we should be crossing any lines between business and pleasure anymore."

"And I have heard you, loud and clear," he replied. "I have made no move to indicate that my intention is otherwise. But I do sense there is some bad blood between us and I don't like that. Can we at least enjoy a drink together? I promise, no funny business."

He sounded so sincere that I found it hard to say no. As I waited for my drink, I listened to the chatter around me. The hotel bar was full and busy by now. Most people looked professional, and suddenly I became conscious of the short length of the dress I wore.

"What if someone sees us together?" I said, once the bartender brought out my drink.

Dylan shrugged. "And?"

"Wouldn't they assume things?" I said, a hint of panic seeping into my tone. "I don't want funny rumors to spread."

"That's ridiculous," he replied, casually. "Whoever spreads a rumor like that has far too much time on their hands."

"Hmm," I sank further into my seat, taking a sip of my drink.

"So, how have you been the last few days?" he asked. From the tone of his voice, he sounded like he was genuinely concerned about me.

"You know, the usual," I shrugged, not wanting to give too many details.

"Oh, really?" I could hear the curiosity in his voice. "Nothing interesting?”

I wondered if he wanted to talk about something specific. I raised a suspicious eyebrow at him.

"No, not really. Is there something in particular you’re interested in knowing?” I asked.

Instead of answering, he just took a sip of his drink.

“You know, I just heard people talk in the office,” he tried to play it off casually.

“Things about me?” I pressed.

“Maybe,” he replied, finally meeting my gaze. Even under the dim bar lights, he had the ability to cause throbbing sensation between my legs.

“What did you hear?” I laughed.

“Something about dating apps,” he said.

“Oh, that,” I said, feeling flushed. “Yeah, I mean, I was toying around with the idea. It’s nothing serious.”
