“Yes, go ahead.”

I was more than pleased at how she was responding to this kind of play. I’d never been able to truly explore this with anyone. I had been too private to do it with some casual hookup. As for Frankie, I’d loved her, but this wouldn’t have been something she enjoyed.

“Why do you call me Valkyrie? That’s the second or third time you’ve done it?”

“Because you remind me of one. Or what I know about them. They represent wisdom, courage, feminine strength, and they were protectors. I see all that in you, especially when it comes to your children. If we were back in the ages when Vikings believed in the gods, I see you as being one of the Valkyries, hence why I’ve called you that a few times. Do you dislike it?”

“No, actually, I love it. I was just wondering why you picked that nickname, Sir.”

Hearing her remember to call me Sir without me prompting her made me so damn happy, I kissed her hard then went back to her breasts. I needed another taste. I hungrily sucked and laved them with my tongue before pulling away again. I had to stop getting lost in her body. I rested my forehead on hers and breathed deeply. I had to try and calm my racing heart and raging erection.

“There is nothing more I’d rather do than keep going and have you for the first time tonight, but I won’t. I want us both to decide with rational brains when this does happen between us. So, as much as it hurts, I’m going to say goodnight and get my ass out of here. Just so you know, you won’t be alone tonight. Lance will be watching. If you need me, call.”

“You don’t need to have anyone—”

I cut off her protest. “If you stay outside the gates, then you will be protected. That’s final. I’ll be here tomorrow. Be prepared to try and convince me not to carry your ass back to the compound with me. Goodnight, my Valkyrie. Sweet dreams,” I told her. I pressed a final, quick kiss to her lips then I got to my feet and walked out of her bedroom.

I made sure to be quiet, so I wouldn’t wake the kids. I heard her follow me. At the door I paused and looked at her and winked, before opening and closing it. I couldn’t chance another kiss. Outside, I listened until I heard her lock it then I went to get my bike. Lance was sitting on his bike next to it. He gave me a chin lift. “Is she okay? Does she know I’m here?”

“She knows. Hopefully, tomorrow I’ll get her back to the compound. If you see anything even remotely suspicious, you call me immediately.”

“Terror told me to call him or Savage if I do.”

“I said to call me. You can call them too but I want the first call.”

“It’s like that, is it?” he asked, with a grin.

“It’s like that. So remember, if anything happens to them, I will come after your ass, Lance. Don’t make me do that.”

He sobered up fast and nodded. I got on my bike and headed back. I didn’t know how much sleep I’d get tonight, but I had to try. I had too much convincing to do tomorrow not to be on top of my game. If it all worked out, I’d have her and the kids back within the safety of the compound and near me.

??????

I knew it was still early, but I couldn’t wait a second longer, wanting to get her to come home. I’d spent a restless night worrying about her and thinking about what I would do when I got her back to the compound. I was praying she hadn’t changed her mind about us and I could press forward with our relationship. One of the first things I had to do was talk to Falcon.

He was the closest thing to a brother she had. As Soleil’s husband, I felt I should tell him my intentions before I spoke to the club. Since I wasn’t a member, I wasn’t sure about the procedure for a prospect claiming an old lady. Did you still have to ask for the club to vote on it? Did they even allow prospects to claim an old lady? Also, I wanted him to be able to voice any objections he might have. Not that him having any was going to deter me. Tonya was going to be mine.

It was barely after eight in the morning, but since it was a workday, I knew Falcon would be at the custom garage. Luckily, it sat across from the clubhouse, so I didn’t have far to go. When I entered, I saw Falcon, Ghost, Tiger, and Blaze were already there. They all greeted me as I entered.

“What brings you to our little slice of heaven, Law? Are you looking to have us build you a bike?” Blaze joked.

“No, sorry to disappoint. I’d love one, but it’s not in the cards for me right now. Besides, I think you have more than enough work to keep all of you busy without me adding to it.” From what I heard, they had to turn work down on top of what they referred to the other chapter in Louisville. They did custom work too.

“Yeah, you’re right, although it would be fun to do a bike that stayed at home, if you know what I mean. What brings you here? Wanna try your hand at fabricating?” Tiger asked.

“No, not that either. I came to talk to Falcon if he can spare me a few minutes.”

“Sure, I can talk. You wanna talk here or somewhere private?”

“Private if we could.”

“Okay, follow me. We can go into our office over here.” He gestured to the door of a small office. I followed him to it then inside. Once I was in there with him, he closed the door and took a seat in one of the three chairs in the room. He gave me a puzzled look.

“What’s on your mind, Law? Is it Tonya and the fact she left the compound? I gotta admit, I’m not thrilled and neither is Soleil. She’s worrying herself to death about it. I told her she should go talk to Tonya today. Maybe she can figure out why she left and talk some sense into her.”

“It is about Tonya and partly about her leaving, or I should say a large part is.”

“Do you know why? I thought she was finally starting to accept our help and would stay long term then poof she was gone. I’d like to know what changed her damn mind.”
