A minute later, Emma felt one wrap around her, and she relaxed further into his chest.

“Two hours, Em. You’ve got this,” Logan said, kissing the top of her head. “And I’ve got you.”

Yes.

It appeared he did. In more ways than one. But would he keep her if news of her living with him broke out?

Or would he break her heart?

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

“She’s living with you?” Aidan asked a few days later.

Logan could hear the surprise in his brother’s voice. He’d told him the whole story from the moment he’d met her to the crash.

Honestly, Logan was just as surprised he’d invited her to stay as Aidan was.

The need to jump in and save Emma while her busybody mother was embarrassing her—and all of them—had taken the decision out of his hands. It was clear from Emma’s expression at the time that living with her parents would be a form of hell.

From the short amount of time he’d been around Dr. Edwards and the things she said about her daughter, Logan could understand why.

Hell, she’d even asked him what his intentions were. After telling her he was just a friend. Which, clearly, he wasn’t, but it was none of her business. Emma was a grown woman. Logan wasn’t going to speak out of place.

Emma could share what she wanted with her mom, but he suspected it wouldn’t be much.

So, he’d taken control and said she was coming home with him.

Logan knew it came with risk. If news got out about her living with him, his board would find out.I mean, I’m not Henry Cavill—the media doesn’t follow me around. And he was hardly going to be attending any red-carpet events with Emma over the next month.

He was confident Emma, as a former lawyer, would understand what was at stake, and they could spend the time together to see if this was just a strong chemistry between them or more.

Given he still had no intention of marrying again, Logan was sure it was just a sexual relationship.

With someone he was beginning to care for.

After all, he wasn’t the monster.
