Fletcher joined him.

“This place really lives up to its reputation,” Logan said.

The view from the award-winning penthouse was spectacular. Logan wouldn’t say it to Daniel, but it even trumped his.

“It looks a little different now.” Fletcher winked at the little girl who seemed to be glued to his leg, staring up at him adoringly. “Isn’t that right, Sammy?”

She nodded rapidly. “Yes, my new daddy lets me have kid’s things. Mommy said I’m lucky.”

Fletcher reached down and picked her up. “Mommy is wrongagain. I’m the lucky one.”

The two shared a giggle at what was obviously an inside joke.

“Stepdad, huh?” Logan asked.

Fletcher nodded. “Yup. Sammy’s mine. Legally now.”

“My daddy is in prison,” the little girl said, and Logan lifted his brows.

Wow, looked like he had a lot of catching up to do on his cousin’s life.

Fletcher laughed and dropped Sammy on the floor. “Long story. Go check on Mommy for me. She’s lying down.”

“Okayyyyy,” Sammy said, running off.

“You’re a natural.” Logan felt the familiar pang he got whenever he thought about how he could have been a dad.

He pushed it aside as fast as it arrived.

Logan was still getting used to the fact having children and a family of his own wasn’t ever going to happen.

It could, but he no longer wanted it.

The entire package—wife, babies—it was all too much of a risk.

Women were a source of pleasure when he wanted it these days. He was able to control it, and there was no risk of his heart getting hurt.

Pathetic.

But, whatever.

“I love that kid,” Fletcher said.

Daniel joined them, and Logan spotted Harper talking to his Aunty Samantha, Blake, and Jacob on the sofa. Her feet were up on the table, clearly tired after her long day.

As Emma would be.

More so.

Logan bet she had more than sore feet.

His mother lingered near his father and Jonathan, who were standing more amicably together, staring out of the floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

Perhaps peace was on the horizon?

“And now another one on the way,” Daniel said, slapping Fletcher on the back.

“What can I say? My boys have done their job. Time you knocked-up Harper so our kids can have cousins.”
