“Did you get me a cheese pizza?” she asks, a grimace on her face.

“I didn’t know what you liked on yours, so I figured cheese was safe.” I shrug, grabbing a big piece of my own pizza and stuffing it in my mouth.

She looks at Lev’s pizza. “That’s gross,” she says before looking at mine with interest, “and that looks more like something I would eat.”

I smile, lifting a piece to her mouth in a silent dare to let me feed her. I don’t share food, but she can have whatever she wants if she lets me give it to her.

She opens her mouth slowly, easing the pizza in bit by bit, fitting half of the piece in her mouth before biting down. I actually groan out loud.

Fuck me.

She hums a satisfied tune as she swallows, forcing me to have to readjust myself. Alexi walks out of his room behind us, causing the air in the room to get heavier. He may not be in a suit, but just his presence is enough to scream ‘I’m in charge’. He doesn't say anything as he fixes himself something to eat in the kitchen. I try to give Evie another bite, but she just shakes her head and settles back into the couch.

Alexi sits on the furthest end of the sectional with his dinner and glass of red wine on the table beside him.

We eat in silence, and I swear Evie melts more into the couch as the minutes pass.

When Alexi’s finished, he clears his throat and looks at Evie. “Tomorrow, we’re on the yacht for the day. Every weekend we will host a party, and a handful of people will be invited based on influence and performance in class. You will be ready to leave at eight-thirty. I'll give you a tour and your duties for the event, and I expect you to do them to my standard.”

Evie nods. “Alright.” She folds her arms across her chest like she’s cold. I grab her a blanket, and lay it over her. She accepts it gratefully.

“Thanks,” she says with a smile, pulling it up around her neck. I get the feeling Alexi makes her feel exposed.

“I’ll have a bikini with a sheer cover-up waiting for you by your door in the morning,” Alexi says.

Evie's eyes go wide. “A bikini?” she asks with a bit of anxiousness in her voice.

“Must you argue with everything I ask?” Alexi asks rhetorically, leaning back and pinching the bridge of his nose. “Yes, a bikini. Is that a problem?”

“I umm…” Evie begins, “I don’t know how to swim.” Lev turns to her with his brows pinched like he knows that's a lie. “Besides,” she continues, “a bikini doesn’t seem very ladylike. Wouldn't you rather I wear a dress or a skirt or something?”

He stares at her, contemplating his response. I can see he doesn't want to change his mind, but Evie definitely delivered a good point without defying him outright. My Little Shadow’s learning to play his game.

“I’ll have a dress sent to your room,” he says finally, “I was also informed you will be staying back at your old suite on Sunday evenings. Since you wear what I decide on Mondays, I will have some outfits sent there as well. So long as you meet my expectations with them, I will allow you to decide how you wear them.”

Evie crosses her arms under the blanket, letting out a small huff. “I was hoping you forgot about that,” she says.

Alexi’s mouth turns up to one side, “I never forget my punishments,Princess.”

Hold the fucking door, this man is flirting. A shit-eating grin crosses my face, and when Alexi notices, his smirk fades instantly, but I see this for what it is now. He doesn’t want the feelings he has, so if he pushes her away, then he never has to acknowledge them.

Caught ya fucker.

Evie doesn’t notice a thing, looking in her lap for the duration of the conversation.

I lean back next to her, wrapping my arm around her shoulders. She gives me a dirty look, but I’m not moving. When she eventually gives in and makes herself comfortable next to me, Alexi stands.

“I’m going to bed,” he announces. When his door clicks shut, the mood in the room changes instantly.

Lev scoots back and makes himself comfortable on Evie’s other side as he rests a hand on her leg. I expect to feel jealous over his small claim of her. Yet, when I look over and see the relaxed smile on his face and the way Evie turns her head towards him ever so slightly, all I feel is a sense of comfort in having her here with us.

“Movie?” Lev asks, and Evie nods.

We pick a comedy, all of us laughing loudly and comfortably. Almost like friends who have always been together. I know it’s only been five days, but something about her makes me feel like she was meant for us. It feels like I’ve known her for way longer. Like my soul recognizes hers or some shit. Who knows? But what I do know, is nothing has ever felt so right.

Chapter 25

I wake up to a knock at my door, my heart feeling lighter than it has in a long time.
