Victor and I slam the door behind us and I know the men inside that doorway will do every damn thing they can to keep anyone from following us through it.

They can’t do anything else. I’m the don’s son.

I throw Tally into the idling limo and Victor does the same thing with his lovely burden.

Both women sputter and sit up on the seat as we dive inside the car and I hit the roof. The car speeds away from the club and I sit back, straightening my shirt and hair carefully.

Tally and her friend are ruffled and her dress is pulled up to the tops of her thighs. I growl when I see Victor’s eyes dart their way.

He looks away immediately and I reach a heavy hand out and tug her skirt down.

She slaps my hand and growls like a little, annoyed kitten. I can’t stop my smile which only seems to piss her off even more.

“I want to go home right now.” I open my mouth and she firms her red lips. “Now.”

I glance over at Victor and he shrugs his shoulders.

“Fine. But one of my men will be outside your apartment tonight.”

“How do you know I don’t have a house?”

I flush a bit under my tan. “I had you checked out.”

“We’ve only known each other an hour. How could you get me checked out that fast?” She holds up a slim hand. “Never mind. I don’t think I want to know.”

Victor snorts next to me and then smooths out his face when I shoot him a dark look.

“Fine. I’ll take you home now. But I’ll be by to see you tomorrow.”

“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

I know she thinks that I’m going to go away. I can see it in her shifty gaze. She thinks that I’ll find another woman more willing to have sex with me and I’ll be off and running because that’s how men are.

I’m not that man. I may be a made man but I’m a loyal man. Loyal to my father, my family and now her. Not in that order either. My queen is at the top of my list.

She’ll figure it out eventually. In the meantime, both women look a little worse for wear and like they could use a good, stiff drink and an early night.

“Would you like a drink?” I pull out the crystal decanter full of whiskey and I’m not really surprised when both of them shake their heads.

“Who is this?” I ask, nodding my head to the other woman. The brunette barely blinks at me so Tally smiles and touches her hand lightly, frowning when she doesn’t answer.

“This is my best friend, Petal Monroe. She’s the one that talked me into going out tonight.”

I bow to her, smiling gently. “So I have you to thank for bringing Tally into my life. Thank you. If you need anything, you only need to ask and it’s yours.”

Tally snorts. “There’s no need to go crazy. We don’t need a bunch of things.”

“What does your friend do?”

“She works as an elementary school teacher.”

My brows lift and Victor next to me snorts out loud.

This seems to finally wake the dark-haired beauty across from us. “What does that mean, hulk?”

Victor’s firm lips tighten and I swear the man looks insulted. I rest a hand on his arm lightly. “Relax. She’s clearly in shock,” I whisper under my breath to him.
