It should rub me wrong, but it doesn’t. He doesn’t sound like I’m unwelcome, if anything, he sounds curious and… ahh, hell if I know.

“Very much,” I answer, squeezing my throbbing cock harder. “Is she drenched?”

Liam slams into her again and again so I can hear the obscene and wet sounds from her cunt. “Oh, yeah, she’s gushing around me.”

I swallow back a groan, moving my hand up and down. Fast and hard. Although I want to whip my dick out and have her touch me, I keep it in my pants while I continue to watch them—and it doesn’t take long before I feel the familiar tingle. My balls ache with the need to release what they’re holding, my hardness throbbing and twitching under my hand. There’s a wet patch on my pants, pre-cum leaking uncontrollably.

“Liam! I’m going to… don’t stop… Liam!” Acacia screams out her orgasm, completely uncaring about the audience. She still hasn’t looked at me, which proves how much she trusts Liam.

“That’s it, mistress. Come for me. Come on my cock,” Liam growls between clenched teeth. “Mhmm, you’re so fucking tight. And the way you’re squeezing me… fuck, I love this cunt.”

Watching her writhe and moan like this draws out my own orgasm, and it slams into me like a freight train. Her name is on my lips as I come in my pants like a fucking teenager.

“It’s just the four of us,” Cia says, emerging with Gus right behind her. “Abel refuses to leave Nikolaos’ corpse.” Her voice cracks, and she looks guilty, as though she thinks she too should stay with her uncle.

“What’s the meaning of this?” Gus asks, looking at me and Liam. We’re already seated, and my staff brought out the refreshments while waiting for the Drákon Heirs.

Liam is nursing a beer and biting into his second sandwich, clearly ravenous. I’m sticking to water for now. I know my doctor wants me to eat healthy after what I’ve been through, but that will have to wait.

Gesturing at the empty chairs, I say, “Sit down, please.” I try not to sound annoyed by his question. “We all need to talk. There are decisions to be made, but I don’t think any of us can make them until we’ve talked freely.”

“Yeah?” Gus asks, lifting one brow like he doesn’t believe me. “And who are we talking to? The Ruler? The professor? Or someone else? Who are you, Kairos?” he spits through clenched teeth.

Well, that’s a good question, isn’t it? While I wish I had the answer, I’m not even sure myself half the time, and, yeah, it’s as frustrating as it’s tiresome. I sigh deeply and pinch the bridge of my nose as I try to calm my racing thoughts. “I don’t know,” I admit. “Who I am to you depends on how this talk goes.”

“That’s more than fair,” Liam says, finally done chewing. When Gus still hasn’t moved from the door, he adds, “Just sit the fuck down or get out. Either is perfectly fine with me, but stop behaving like such a little bitch. It’s time to man the fuck up.”

I try not to snort.

It’snotcoincidentalthatI’ve chosen the seat directly opposite of Kai. It’s strategic and an open challenge, one that I stand by. Poison me once, shame on you—poison me twice… well, there won’t be a second time.

“We have until midnight,” I say, looking directly at our Ruler. “I’m leaving at midnight. My plans might have been delayed, but they haven’t changed.”

Although he looks deep in thought, Kai nods, showing me he’s heard me. “I guess we better get started then.”

The silence that follows is deafening. Liam takes my hand and clutches it in his, my skin disappearing beneath his tattooed flesh. Gus looks like he’s two seconds from bolting, but when he notices my stare, he hangs his head—in shame, I hope.

Clearing my throat, I answer Kai. “I think that’s a good idea. But before you do…” I pause and don’t continue until Gus looks at me. “You and me have a heap of shit to wade through, but now isn’t the time for that. I only have one question that’s pressing. Are you in or out? If you’re out, leave now, and we can discuss what that means at another time. If you’re in, however, then you better be all the way in.”

“I’m not going anywhere,” Gus says, his fierce blue eyes burning with determination, and I believe him.

“Don’t tell me you’re forgiving the fucker that easily,” Liam growls, whipping out one of his knives, using the end to casually clean his nails.

I sigh audibly. “This isn’t about forgiving or forgetting, it’s about picking a side. The rest is between Gus and me, and that’s not up for debate. Not now, nor ever. Am I making myself clear?” I look between Kai and Liam, needing them both to understand how serious I am.

Have I forgiven Gus? Absolutely not, and I won’t just like that. This isn’t about his fucked up behavior, though. That’s between him and me, and I’ll sort through that when I can. Right now, I don’t have the luxury to focus on my heart.

“Cia, I’m so sor—”

I interrupt Gus. “Didn’t you just hear me say to Liam that we’re not discussing that right now? We don’t have the time, and more importantly, I’m not ready. What you did was beyond fucked up. You don’t get to apologize or explain yourself just because you feel bad, at least not until I’m ready to hear it.”

“Yeah, but—”

“No!” I shout, jumping up from the chair I’m occupying. “Don’t you fucking get it? If you force your apology on me, it’s the most selfish thing you’ve ever done, because that’s not for me. It’s one hundred percent for yourself. You fucked up, and now you get to wait until I’m ready. Either you wait for however long it takes, or you’re out.” As my mind assaults me with the memory of Gus forcing himself uncaringly down my throat and hitting me, I shudder.

How do I even deal with that?

“We’re getting off track here,” Kai calmly interjects, and I nod because he’s right.
