I didn't have a reservation, but I knew that Rodney would always make an exception for me. I gave him a phone call before getting to the restaurant and he had a private table set up by the time we got there.

"If this isn't a date, I wonder what an actual date with you would be like," she said to me with a smile.

"You see, that is something you shouldn't say to a man that wants you."

"I get that you want me, but I don't think you want me enough to date me. To sleep with me, maybe, I get that. You don't look to me like somebody who dates women."

I smiled at her. She knew me quite well. Our definition of date would be two different things. I consider the woman that I sleep with a woman that I date. For her, she is talking about a proper relationship, which shows where our heads are at that moment.

She was somebody who loved, but for me, I was not and that was another reason why I should probably stay away from her. I'm too selfish to do that.

"And what made you come to that conclusion?" I teased.

"Don't try to be coy with me," she replied.

I shrugged my shoulders. "If I'm to go out with you on a proper date, I would buy out the entire restaurant for that night because I would want you to myself. But you're right. I don't date women."

"So, are you trying to warn me off yourself before I even get involved?" She folded her arms.

"As a matter of fact, I'm trying to let you know what you are getting into."

"I am not getting into anything with you, Mr. Harvey."

"I told you to call me George." The sound of my name on her lips was like music to my ears. I wanted to hear it often. "I took the liberty of ordering for us. I hope you don't mind."

"No, I do not. I'm too hungry to care."

I liked her answer. I liked it very much.

"That is good. So, what have you been up to lately?" I asked, and my question made her laugh. "I didn't know that I had on an afro and a red nose."

"No, it's not what you said that is funny. It's just I never saw you as the kind of person who asked that kind of question."

"I didn't see myself as that kind of person either, but I am genuinely curious about you. I know next to nothing about you except the part of you that I can see in the office, but I want to know more. You intrigue me, Katrina."

"Now you see, that is something you don't say to someone that you're not ready to be in a relationship with." She smiled.

"Humor me," I told her.

She nodded as the waiter brought the first course and placed it on the table.

"Okay." She looked at the ceiling. "You already know my name is Katrina Williams. I am a very simple person. I like nature. I like movies and reading. My favorite genre is romance, obviously. I am a homebody. I don't go out much except when Lily drags me out. I don't have a lot of friends, but the ones that I do have I am good at keeping. I love the cold and the wet. It makes me very happy, so today when it was drizzling all day, I liked that. Although I don't like being caught or stuck in the rain I like the idea of rain. I'm not really explorative when it comes to food. I'm not the most adventurous person and I'm not big on confrontation, so I try to avoid that as much as possible. I am also not good at talking about myself so thinking of what to say to you right now is a lot of work, but I think that that should do." She took a pause but I knew she wasn't done.

"When it comes to what I'm currently into lately, I recently picked up a new series. I think that I've been doing quite well at my new job as an assistant to this very handsome man. I've also been into crochet as of late. I made myself a sweater not so long ago, but that's it."

I nodded my head. "That is very interesting and that is more than enough. I know that you can't get to know a person in a day and if you truly want to know a person, you have to spend time with them. Thank you for telling me all of that."

"You're welcome." She dug into her meal. "Now it's time for you to reciprocate, although I do feel like I know a considerable amount of things about you given that Lily adores you and talks about you and I've also been working with you for a while. I'll make it easier for you and ask questions that I want to know."

She gave it some thought and finally spoke. "What made you go into the military?"

"You were honest with me, so I guess I have to be honest with you as well. I went to the military for various reasons. I needed a change. The level of discipline that you get from the military, that living on edge, that routine, I wanted that. It was one of the reasons. I also went into the Navy because I wanted something different. I had my heart broken as a teenager and I just wanted a breath of fresh air, which is probably too much information for you to know."

"I don't think so." She shook her head. "It makes you more relatable. I had my heart broken a couple of times as well, but you seem to me like the kind of person that doesn't come back from that."

"You are quite smart. No, I didn't come back from it. I shut myself off."

"So that's the reason why you don't date?"
