I was not a man that had an emotional attachment to a woman, ever. The last woman that I had any sort of dating relationship with was Lily's mother. She was beautiful and Lily took after her in that sense.

I was young and naive and she was young but not the latter. For me, I was in love with her, enamored by her beauty, but she was nothing but a vile serpent. She wanted me for my parents’ money, and when she got pregnant with Lily, I was so in love with her that I was willing to marry her.

But I figured that eighteen year old boys didn't do it for her when I found her cheating on me with another man who was almost twice my age. She married him instead and abandoned Lily on my doorstep.

Ever since then, my heart has been closed off towards the opposite sex. I channeled all of that energy and pent up anger into being a better person, being my own man and harnessing my skills.

I had always been someone that leaned towards technology, so I created my first app. It was an e-commerce app. It went viral and I made my first million before I clocked twenty, and that was how Blue Trekk was founded. Since then, it grew to become a billion dollar company.

My phone buzzed and I picked it up. It was a text from Marcus, my best friend. We have been friends since kindergarten, and we have been inseparable ever since.

He wanted to know if I would still be available for our outing that evening. I replied to him positively.

It's been a while since I went out for an occasion. I am not one for the social scene, and I enjoy the company of very few people.

After work,I found myself at our regular members only bar. Marcus was a man that was just as busy as I was, but we have made the decision to see each other as often as possible, mostly because of me, because, apart from Marcus, I don't have anyone else I consider a friend.

Acquaintances? Maybe. But people that I would truly call my friend? Only Marcus registers.

I don't like letting people into my space and I am a very private person.

He was already at the bar drinking when I sat down opposite him, taking off my jacket.

"You look well," he said.

"You are talking as if you didn't see me a few weeks ago." The waiter came up to me and I placed my order.

He smiled. "How is work?"

"It's been here and there."

"I heard you got a new assistant. How's that working out for you?"

"Lily is like a tap. She just spills the information, doesn't she?"

"How else would I keep up with you? So, how are you adjusting?"

"I don't like it. I don't like it at all, but Penny is too far gone and I can't keep being selfish by asking her to keep working for me. Other than that, I am doing great. It's good to see you again."

"I've been gone for so long that I was worried that your life was going to fall apart without me."

"I held up fine, as you can see."

"Been sleeping?"

I tilted my head from side-to-side, unsure of how to reply to him. "So, so, " I replied.

"Are you on medications?"

I took a sip of the drink in front of me."That tells me nothing. You barely listen to your doctor."

That was true. When I am on medications, Itrynot to drink.

"I have given you my fair share of advice, but you always refuse to take it."

"Because your advice is ridiculous." I finished what was in my glass.
