King shrugged. “Cheese sauce under the bridge, Lenny.”

Meg wagged her finger at King. “Did you just make a joke I would have?”

“Yeah, I guess after over twenty years, you’re wearing off on me.” He stood and hitched his finger at Meg. “Wanna go for a ride?”

“Lo,” Meg gasped. “Not in front of the kids.”

King threw his hands in the air and huffed. “On my bike, Meg. Take a ride on my bike. That’s why Snapper and I came in here to see if you guys wanted to go out.”

“Oh,” Meg laughed. “I’m in. Can we stop for ice cream?”

King pulled his keys out of his pocket. “Whatever you want, babe.”

“Uh, can you give us just one minute?” I asked. “I want to talk to Jonas.”

Meg winked at me. “We’ll be outside waiting for you.” She grabbed King’s hand and pulled him out the front door.

“Everything okay?” Jonas asked.

I nodded and closed the distance between us. He wrapped his arms around me, and I turned my head to lay my head on his chest. “I talked to Melody. She insists on packing everything up, and driving it here.”

“Really?”

I nodded. “Yeah, she said she needs to come and see the crazy for herself.” I tipped my head back and smiled. “And she wants to check you out.”

“Understandable. I did steal you away from her.”

“And there is one more thing,” I whispered.

He pressed a kiss to my forehead. “What is it, babe?”

"Jonas," I began, my voice trembling slightly. "There's something I need to tell you. It's been on my mind for a while, and I can't keep it inside any longer."

His eyes met mine, a mix of curiosity and concern that encouraged me to continue.

"I love you," the words slipped from my lips, a confession long overdue. "I've loved you for so long, and my feelings for you have shot into outer space the past weeks."

A huge smile spread across his lips. “Yeah?”

I chewed on my bottom lip. “Yup, you’re it for me.”

“Out of this world, huh?”

“Are you enjoying this?” I laughed. “I think you’re supposed to say something back to me.” I was putting my heart out here, and he was milking it.

He nodded thoughtfully. “Thank you.”

My eyes bugged out, and my jaw dropped. “Uh.”

His smile returned, and he scooped me up into his arms. “Lennox,” he laughed, “I’ve loved you for a long fucking time. Pretty sure it happened in the third letter you wrote me when you finally let the ramble out. I fell in love with the ramble.” He swung me around, and I wrapped my legs around his waist.

“My rambling is what got you, huh?” I giggled. “Well, then I should really give you the last letter I wrote you because it’s three pages of pure ramble while I tried to tell you I love you.”

“I want it,” he insisted.

I shook my head. “Not now. I’m going to save it for when I do something crazy again with Meg, and then I’ll give it to you to remind you that you love my ramble.”

“You plan on doing crazy shit with Meg often?” he chuckled.
