Her whole body shakes with laughter at my words until I reach the apex of her thighs and gently but firmly press them apart. Her sex is still glistening with her pleasure, and I raise my eyes to her hooded ones as I close the distance.

“Let me kiss you all better.”

SUMMER

The car is silent as we head to whatever hotel Caden has booked. He’s been quiet since we left the sanctity of the private room inRisqué.

Ford had been sitting outside the door with a fresh change of clothes for me and any other personal items Vaughn had rustled up from his office.

There had also been a note atop the clothes that simply said:

“I’ll keep looking.”

I knew automatically that he was referring to his digging into Noah Spellman and Layla Gardiner, and I’d taken a moment to look up towards the hidden camera I knew was blinking in my direction to send a small smile to my dear friend.

A town car had been waiting outside the private staff entrance, which had reminded me to send Vaughn a quick text about Griff’s sickness once I was settled inside.

Me

Could you please check on Griffith? He wasn’t well earlier.

I get an immediate thumbs-up emoji and drop my cell into my bag as Caden’s phone chimes.

“Son of abitch!”

I snuggle closer on the back seat as Ford swivels about. “What now?”

Caden drapes his free arm across my shoulders, shaking his head with a self-deprecatory smirk playing across his kiss-swollen lips. “He billed me. The motherfucker actuallychargedmy gold card.”

I press my lips together. “How much?”

“Ten dollars.”

My eyes blow wide, and I can’t stop my laughter from bubbling up my throat to escape my mouth. “Those roomsstartat $5,000 per half hour. He really must think you’re a two-pump chump.”

He shakes his head, his smile broadening as Ford laughs to himself in the passenger seat. “Never seen anything like it, Cade. That place was freaky…”

Ford lifts a fiendish brow, and his smile grows enormous. “I think Ilikefreaky. Just don’t tell my Mama.”

We’re still laughing when the car pulls up kerbside at the Greenwich Hotel.

My jaw drops, knowing it’s a very high-end boutique hotel close to Rogue. “Fancy schmancy!”

We steamroll through reception, leaving Ford at the bar as we head directly to a suite. I’m assuming Cade stays here regularly, as he seems to know precisely where he’s going.

“The Tribeca Penthouse is Dad’s favourite.”

Upon entry, I can see Sutton all over it. It’s unique and totally suits his character.

I exchange a small smile with Cade as I step further inside.

“Mom!”

A blonde whirlwind barrels into me, almost knocking me off my feet, only for Caden to reach out a steadying hand. “Easy, kid. She’s breakable.”

My eyes search for his over our son’s shoulder, and I deadpan with a cynical brow. “I’m stronger than I look. I’m most definitelynotbreakable.”
