“I learned from the best,” I reply without even thinking. Gabe’s head moves back, shocked by my response.

“I must be losing it,” he looks between Zeke and Cain. “Did he just give me a compliment?”

The four of us chuckle. “He did, boss. Now, let’s get you outta here,” Zeke says.

Zeke shouts out loud, letting the other Sons know that we got Gabe as we move down the hall.

Once outside, we make our way through the trees to the trucks down the street. I turn back to see if I can spot any of the Reapers heading toward us.

Zeke turns to look at me. “They’ll be fine. They know how to take care of themselves,” he says, trying to reassure me.

“Just go ahead and get Gabe to the truck. I need to make sure they make it out,” I tell him, torn between both worlds.

Gabe lifts his head meeting my gaze. “Angel will have your balls if they don’t make it back to her in one piece,” he laughs.

“I was thinking the same thing, but the same can be said for you too. Get outta here. I’ll call you when I’m on my way back,” I say, nodding toward the trucks.

“Be safe, son.”

My chest aches as I watch them walk through the trees until they are out of sight and then turn back to the warehouse.

He will be fine. Zeke and Cain will make sure of that.

The Reapers start piling out of the front entrance, some firing off shots before exiting the building. My eyes strain, trying to look for the guys in the wave of men running away, but they aren’t out here with the others.

I take off sprinting toward the building just as I spot Lucky and Jax carrying Royal through the doorway. They make it ten yards before the building explodes, sending all of us flying through the air from the blast.

My body hits the solid ground hard—the impact taking my breath away. A sharp, aching pain radiates through me as I roll onto my side, coughing up blood.

I take a few deep breaths, then force my body to move. Struggling to stand, I limp my way over to find the others.

Lucky’s picking shards of metal from his legs when I reach him.

“Fuck!” he shouts, pulling a large piece from his arm. I fall to the ground beside him, trying to get out what I can.

Sinner rushes over to help as his eyes drop down with concern. “Don’t move, Luck. There’s shrapnel in your back,” he hesitates before finishing his sentence. “It’s right next to your spine. One wrong move, and it could paralyze you.”

Lucky and I freeze instantly. He looks over at me with fear in his eyes.

Sinner shouts for help as more Reapers run over. “We need to carefully carry him out of here,” he explains.

Lucky grabs hold of my arm, stopping me from getting up. “Go find the others. Royal’s been shot.”

I spot Cruz helping Jax lift a bloody Royal off the ground. “I got him,” I say, replacing Cruz at Royal’s side.

“Hang on, brother. You’re not out of the fight yet,” I say, trying to carry the weight of his body while struggling with my own pain.

Several trucks come to a screeching stop in front of us. A few members of the Sons pile out and start helping load up the injured.

Jax and I load up Royal in the bed of one of the trucks before climbing in. “Let’s go!” Jax shouts to the driver.

Ripping my shirt off, I ball it up, placing it over Royal’s wound, hoping to prevent any more blood loss.

Jax and I lock eyes over Royal’s body. “He’s going to be fine. Don’t look at me like that!” My voice cracks through the air.
