“Now, Angel,” he huffs. I look to Lucky for some help, except he just bobs his head toward the chair.Men. Never any help when you need them.

Giving in, I take a step toward the chair when the front door bursts open and the three of us sprint to the front room.

Zeke and Cain stand with their guns drawn as Cruz and the Reapers enter the house. The smell of leather and sweat fill my nostrils as they pile through the doorway. Then it happens. My stomach drops as soon as I see them.

“Put the guns down,” Cruz shouts. “We’re here for Angel.” My back stiffens and my eyes go wide while everyone’s attention falls on me.

Zeke and Cain lower their weapons, but they don’t put them away.

The ol’-timers grimace while the younger members wear a look of curiosity and a tad bit of confusion on their faces.

That’s right, I’m the town pariah. Get a good look while you can.

My body goes stiff as Royal, Dante, and Jax take front and center of the room. They gaze between Lucky and me with a scowl, and a tremor of fear runs down my spine.

They’re angry and I can’t blame them. It isn’t fair that we told them we had errands to run and now they find us at Gabe’s instead.

This day has just gone from bad to worse.

“Angel,” Cruz yells, causing me to jump.

Silence fills the room as I push past Gabe and make my way through the crowd of people. As I pass the guys, Royal snatches my arm, stopping me from moving.

Please, don’t do this here in front of everyone.

He leans down and whispers in my ear. “You wanna tell me what the fuck you’re doing here?” he sneers. I look up, finding his fiery blue eyes scorching through me.

“I’ll explain everything, I promise.” He drops his hand, looking away from me with disappointment. Dante doesn’t even look my way. He just stands there with his arms crossed, staring at Gabriel and shaking his head.

My eyes fall shut. I take a deep breath then force my feet to move.

Gabe’s voice cuts through the air as he steps right up behind me. “Leave her alone, Cruz. She doesn’t know where her mother is.” I cover my mouth trying to mask the sobs that escape me and shake my head.

The chatter picks up around the room. Cruz leans forward with a grimace on his face. “This isn’t a good look for you, darling, and I’ll deal with Lucky later,” he growls.

Great, now Lucky’s going to be in trouble with the club because of me.

“I want every warehouse owned by the cartel searched for any sign of activity. The cartel has been sticking their nose in club business and getting away with it for far too long. I want King and Brenda found, now,” Cruz orders, and all the men start to move out.

“The Sons will help,” Gabriel adds.

Cruz frowns. “We can take care of our own.”

Gabriel moves me out of the way as he steps up to Cruz. “I didn’t ask for permission. The Reapers have let King and the cartel slip through their grasp one too many times. This ends now.”

Cruz tosses his hands up as he turns his back on Gabriel and heads for the door. “Just stay out of our way,” he grumbles.

“Zeke, get everyone ready!” Gabriel snarls.

I take a deep breath, wiping away the tears that have silently fallen. The roar of bikes hits my ears as I turn to find four heated eyes locked on me.

Zeke, Cain, and Gabriel move to the kitchen, leaving me alone with the guys.

“What the fuck are you two doing here?” Royal shouts.

Lucky steps forward placing myself as a barrier between me and them. “She needed to talk to him and I agreed to take her.” He then turns to me. “You need to tell them.”

I stare at him blankly and nod. Another wave of nausea hits me and I sprint to the trash, dry heaving for what seems like an eternity. Wiping my mouth, I turn to find everyone staring at me.
