“Send pics,” Krissy told me. “I want to see just what you pick out.”

I promised her I would, and we talked a few minutes longer before hanging up the phone. I finished my coffee about the time we finished our conversation, and I sighed as I sat back in the little café chair. There was a part of me that wished I was more outgoing and free-spirited in the way she was.

But another part of me knew I was too reserved. God, I did want to fuck Neils. But I wasn’t sure if I had it in me to go through with it. He would have to be the one to take the initiative. And if he did, I wasn’t sure how I would respond. My gut feeling was that I would go with it.

Quite happily, too.

But tomorrow, with the three of us shopping, I didn’t know how that would go. I knew I would be on the reserved side, but Krissy didn’t seem to think that was a good idea. Maybe I would do what I could to cut loose and have fun – and just shop with Libby as though we did have all the money in the world to spend.

I wasn’t the one paying for it, and I knew Neils did have the money. So, what was the harm?

Then again, it would be a chance for me to get some things I knew would be sexy – and that could be something to work out in my favor. A little seduction never hurt anyone, as Krissy had said many times before.

I got up and threw my garbage in the trashcan.

Maybe she was right. Maybe it was time for me to throw off some of my reservations.

I was only twenty-four. It was the time in my life when I could just have fun and not worry about it.

There wasn’t any harm in that.

Chapter Thirteen

Neils

Ihadn’tsaidso, but I’d been looking forward to going shopping with Erin and Libby all week.

Saturday morning, I got up at the same time I always did, but I didn’t even bother going into the office. I’d reached the goal I had for the week the day before, and Jason was elated with the fact I managed to get it done by Friday. He asked about a nanny, but I brushed it off.

I didn’t need my publisher to dig that far into my life.

I had coffee made and ready by the time Erin came out of her room, and she grabbed a cup and sat at the table with me.

“If there’s any errands you need to do besides shopping let me know,” I said. “We’re going to be taking the Jeep, and with the way Libby feels about riding, I try to get it all done at once, so she’s not exposed to it more than necessary.”

“I don’t think so,” Erin said. “Most of what I do is online, so I don’t actually have to deal with a lot of things face to face.”

“That’s one nice perk of modern life,” I said. “The days of dealing with snail mail is long gone.”

Libby came out of her room, rubbing her eyes.

“You better get dressed,” Erin said. “We’re going shopping today, remember?”

“Yeah,” Libby said, not at all excited.

“Oh, come on, it’s going to be fun,” Erin coaxed. “It’s been so long since I’ve had another girl to go shopping with, I need your advice.”

“Alright, alright,” she said, going back into her room to change.

“Don’t expect a lot out of her,” I warned. “She’s not one much for shopping, especially when it comes to clothes. I’m hoping with another woman around she’s going to be more open to trying different styles, but I don’t want to push her.”

“That’s smart,” Erin said. “The last thing you want is to make it sound like you’re making her dress a certain way. That’s just asking her to do the opposite. Gotta love the teen years, even if she is a pre-teen.”

I grinned. “Sounds like you might know a thing or two about rebellion then?”

“Come on, you know me, and you know my dad. Do you think I was a perfect angel growing up?” she teased.

“That’s fair. I guess every father just holds out hope he’s going to have the exception to the rule. But I’m pretty sure I’m fucked when it comes to Libby listening to what I have to say much longer,” I admitted.
