Page 63 of Someday

“You really are here,” she says, her voice raspy.

“I am, Firefly. And I’m staying right here.”

I hold my arms out and she tucks herself in my arms, her head against my chest as she tries to catch her breath.

“I’m sorry,” she whispers over and over.

“You never have to be sorry,” I tell her. “I’m not going anywhere. You’re safe now.”

And when she finally falls asleep again, I face the truth that what I’ve gone through in losing her has been nothing compared to the hell she’s been living in.

* * *

I wake up with her mouth wrapped around my cock and think I’m dreaming. I’ve barely slept at all, but it’s the most glorious way to wake up. My endurance is embarrassing, but the way her cheeks hollow out as she looks up at me makes it impossible to last.

I make it up by being ready to go again the minute she kisses me.

“Are you too sore to do this?” I ask before I sink into her.

She answers by wrapping her feet around my ass and tugging me closer, her pussy welcoming me like a hot cocoon.

“It hurts so good,” she says, smiling.

I hover over her, my ears keen for every gasp, my dick ultra-sensitive from our night together. And I look for any signs of distress from her dream, but her eyes are peaceful, her sweet smile never leaving her face.

“Are you okay?” I ask, my hand on her cheek as I kiss her slow and deep, the way I’m fucking her.

“Better than okay,” she says.

I don’t ask about her dream then, not wanting to do anything to ruin this moment with her, and I didn’t imagine it could be, but this time is more powerful than ever in the light of day.

We shake and shudder, the steady build into our climax so earth-shattering, we both collapse afterward, our chests rising and falling.

She turns to look at me a few minutes after, her eyes wide. “I will never take this for granted again,” she says. “Ever.”

I start to ask her what she means exactly. I can guess that she means this explosive chemistry between us, but I don’t want to assume, and I’m like a greedy bastard, wanting every ounce she has to give me.

She goes to the bathroom and when she comes back out, she leans against the doorframe, her body a fucking work of art as she smiles at me.

“Do you think you’ll be able to work today?” she asks.

I adjust the pillow so I can lean up a little more and grin. “I don’t want to leave you, but yes, I’ve got a weird amount of energy for how little I slept. What about you?”

I nearly bring up her dream again, but since she isn’t saying anything about it, I don’t either.

She nods. “I think I’ll just stay in the stables today…not try to go through my parents’ stuff like I’d talked about doing. One thing at a time, maybe.”

“What happened out there yesterday? You were in the stables when I got there.”

“I went out to the—” She stops and looks down at the floor before shaking her head slightly.

“Out to the what?” I prompt.

“I shouldn’t have.”

Her head lifts, but her eyes still have that far-off gaze and I wonder where her mind is.

“What is it, Sofie? Tell me where you went.”
