“You don’t think that people are desperate, E? That they won’t say or do anything to try and get money. Including sending my fucking sister a finger and death threat?”

I tap my chin. “What if those events are unrelated?”

“Well, we’ll know soon enough.” He glances up as Marco enters the room. “Darko and two soldiers are picking up Tommy now. We need to take Georgie back to the casino and she needs to stay put until he’s questioned.”

I nod in agreeance. “She’s a scapegoat,” I tell him. “And I think this scumbag Tommy connected her phone so she’d get caught. My gut’s telling me this may be a distraction to something much more sinister.”

“Who has watch over Valentina?” Angelo barks.

“Santino,” I reply. “He’s over there now and Dom has the door to Marco’s side entrance. Valentina is safe.”

“Good,” Marco and Angelo say in unison.

“Call her and tell her not to fucking go anywhere,” Angelo barks. “Better still, get your ass back over to the casino now. We will deal with Tommy.”

I go to protest, but Marco shakes his head. The time to pick my battles isn’t now.

“You can take Georgie with you, get her a room, and make sure one of the soldiers stays at her door. I don’t think that she’ll alert Tommy, but we can’t be sure of anything until he’s in our custody,” Marco adds.

I nod. “Fine.”

I don’t like it, but I need to be back by her side, and right now, she’s safest when she is with me. Santino nor Dom won’t watch her like I will.

“I’ll call you later,” Angelo says as I glance through the two-way window. Rocco is still in position, towering over Georgie with his arms folded across his chest. I swear he takes his job a little too seriously at times. The girl is clean. “For fuck’s sake, get her out of here.”

“I need to know the second you have Tommy,” I say, giving him a look.

He nods. “I will,” then adds, “Oh, and Enzo?”

“Yeah?” I call over my shoulder.

“I do not fucking hit like a girl.”

Once Georgie is secured in her suite, I make my way down to Marco’s office and find Valentina with Sloane and Bianca in the control room.

I frown. “You two shouldn’t be in here,” I say as little Charlie runs up to me.

I scoop him up in my arms and give him a scruff under his chin.

“This is fascinating shit,” Bianca says. “I should go make some popcorn and spend the rest of the night here. People are so weird!”

Valentina watches me; she knows something’s up.

“I need to take you home,” I say softly to her.

She goes to stand. “Okay.”

I know she wants to ask me about what happened, but she won’t in front of the others.

I look at Bianca. “You’re not to leave this casino until Angelo says so,” I say, my tone curt.

She frowns. “What’s going on?”

“Angelo’s orders until we get to the bottom of this.”

She shrugs. “Fine by me. But Iamgoing to make popcorn.”
