I give Sloane a chin lift as I hand Charlie back. “Same goes for you, stay inside and don’t go anywhere, got me?”

She nods, and not for the first time, I see in her eyes that she may be questioning exactly what she’s gotten herself into working for us.

I don’t have time for that. I need to get Valentina to my place where I can keep watch on her without anyone getting close until I hear from Angelo.

I’m itching to turn around and drive back there, and maybe the reason Angelo didn’t let me is because he knows what I’m capable of when pushed. Or maybe it’s because he really does know that she is safest with me.

I give Santino the heads-up that we’re leaving and to keep watch over the girls until Sloane and Bianca finish work. He will escort Sloane outside as well when she needs to take Charlie to do his business before they retire for the night.

We walk out to the parking lot, and I open the door for Valentina.

She stops and faces me, her eyes watery as I look at her for a moment confused.

“Valentina?”

“You love me?” she whispers.

I can’t help the smile that splits over my face. “You knew that already. The question is, do you love me?”

She flies into my arms, throwing herself into my body as she wraps herself around me. “So, so much, Enzo, so much I could burst!”

I pull her back and cup her face, kissing her hard. “I’m going to hell,” I whisper in between kisses. “So I may as well enjoy the ride before I get there.”

I push her up against the car and my dick pushes into her hip as she groans. We kiss like long-lost lovers who have only just found each other after being apart for an eternity.

“I love you, Enzo. I’ve always loved you.”

I wipe her tears with my finger. “Not as much as I love you, belladonna.I could never put into words how much you mean to me.”

“You’re never leaving me again.”

“I didn’t want to the first time.”

She wraps her arms around my neck. “It’s got to be okay, doesn’t it?”

I push her hair behind her ears. “It will be in time.”

“How did things go with Angelo?” She cringes as she asks.

I cup her face, holding her chin. “I think he will get used to the idea, in time.”

“You don’t seem worried.”

“I’m not,” I retort, kissing her nose, then her lips softly. “Not when I’m with you.”

“I hope I’m worth it.”

I smile. “You know you are, Valentina. You’re my weakness.”

She squeezes my ass. “I need you, E.”

I rest my head against hers. “I need you too, so fucking much. Get in the car, we need to get home.”

I cup the back of her neck, kissing her again.

“I love it when you talk dirty.” She laughs, and it’s such a nice sound.

I feel my chest brim with happiness, and for the first time in a long time, I feel completely at peace. Even though we have so much going on and so much at stake.
