“My darling, I saw you with Daddy! Such a big boy.”

Fynn strolls up behind him and shakes his wet hair all over me as I squeal. Then my son does the exact same thing, laughing his little head off.

I start to tickle him, and he laughs even more. The sound of his voice is so soothing, and as I look up, I see Fynn gazing down at us. Love and warmth in his eyes as he takes in the scene. His body is ripped, the water running off him in rivulets. He’s like a god. He couldn’t be real because he’s just so beautiful.

He crouches down, reaching around our son to cup the side of my face. “You look very pretty today, Mrs. Medici,” he says, a smile curving his lips.

I grin back at him. “You don’t look too bad yourself, Mr. Medici.”

He plants a kiss on top of our giggling child’s head, then reaches over for me. Our lips meet, and all of a sudden, a bright light shines, burning my eyes.

I start to cough, but it feels more like I’m choking.

Am I dead?

I hear voices, the box shakes, and I feel two hands on my shoulders as I’m pulled upwards.

I don’t have the will to fight anymore, I’m so tired.

But then I hear, “Sage? Sage? Are you all right?”

My eyes slowly open, and the light blinds me.

I try to shield it with my arm as somebody picks me up to fold me into their warm body.

“I’m here, baby cakes.”His voice is warm like butter as he starts to kiss my face. My hair. My nose. My mouth.

“Am I alive?”

“She’s alive!” I hear someone else close by.

“Oh, thank God,” I’m sure that’s Angelo.

“Roberto… he’s… trying to kill us…”

“Shhh, baby, you just need to rest now,” Fynn tells me.

“We need a paramedic,” I’m pretty sure that’s Dante. “Why is she so disorientated?”

“Probably the fumes, and lack of oxygen,” Fynn says, like he really knows.

“She's breathing, that’s the main thing,” Marco adds.

They’re all here. They came for me.

“Fynn…”

“I’m here.” His face comes into view.

He looks angelic.

“Fynn?” I whisper, hardly daring to believe that it’s real. That I really am alive. “Are you real?”

“Yes, baby cakes,I’m very real.” He strokes my hair.

“I missed you. I’m never going to let anything happen to you again, I swear it.”

“It's okay,” I say. “As long as you’re here and this is real and not a dream.”
