The girl who had the ability to shatter my heart into a million pieces kissed me back, repairing everything that had gone wrong this week, putting me back together like a puzzle and she was the missing piece.

After what seemed like an eternity, I pulled away an inch, resting my forehead on hers. “You have no idea how long I’ve waited for this,” I whispered.

“A week?” she asked, looking confused.

I shook my head, beads of sweat dripping down my face. But I didn’t care. She didn’t care. None of that mattered while she was in my arms once again and everything was right with the world.

“Forever, it seems,” I replied, a smile stretching my cheeks.

She rolled her eyes, but matched my grin with one of hers. She looked beautiful right then, happier than I had ever seen her before. The little worry lines that seemed permanently etched between her brows had disappeared, her frown replaced by a smile.

“You look hot in that jersey,” I whispered before pursing my lips and laying a quick kiss on her cheek.

She let go of my arms and swatted at me. “That’swhat you have to say right now?”

Pulling back, I frowned and stared at her. It wasn’t what I wanted to say at all.

“Why are you here, Una?” I dropped my hands for half a second. But I couldn’t stand not to be touching her. Everything around me spun, making me dizzy, until my hands connected with her waist again. Then, it was just the two of us.

She stared back at me, bewildered. By her actions, it would seem clear she was here for me.

For us.

But I needed verbal confirmation. I needed to hear her say it.

“For you. For us. Because you taught me that every happily ever after ends with…” she started, prompting me to finish her sentence. The one on the scoreboard. The one that took me a minute to understand, but when I did, it was like lightning coursed through my veins.

“True love’s kiss.”

She nodded. “True love’s kiss.”

My hands tightened around her waist. “Consider it done,” I said.

My lips crashed into hers and the world started spinning once again. She threw her arms around my neck and I wrapped mine around her torso, getting her as close to me as possible.

The crowd went absolutely feral around us, almost louder than when we won the game a few minutes ago.

That was an amazing feeling.

But this? This was better.

I kissed her like it was the first and last time. Neither of us cared about the people around us. We didn’t care what they thought, what they said, or what they did.

It was just Una and I now. If they didn’t like it, then tough.

To end the show, I held her back and dipped her down low, breaking apart from her and smiling.

“What’s this?” Una pulled back, a horrified look on her face as her gaze fell to my wrist.

I tilted my head, confused for a second, until I realized what she was looking at—the scrunchie.

“Oh, you mean my good luck scrunchie?” I said, jokingly.

Her jaw dropped. “You meanmyfavorite scrunchie that has been missing for weeks?”

I shrugged and intertwined my fingers with hers, reaching for the scrunchie. “You left it at La Madrina. I was going to give it back, but then… well, it brought me luck. It brought meyou. I’ve kept it in my pocket or on my wrist ever since. You can have it back…” I started to slide it from my wrist to hers, but she stopped me before it got over my knuckles.

“No. You keep it. You have that and I have this.” She pointed to her jersey. The one with my name on the back. The one that set my entire body on fire when I saw her wearing it.
