He could bear this moment as he had so many before it. He had taken worse.

He fought the urge to make eye contact with her, keeping his gaze solely on Draven. His king.

He knelt on one knee. One hand pressing his fist against the stone as he resisted the primal instinct. Smiling at the sudden change in Draven’s smug face.

“Master,” he growled the word out as he bent his head. His hair falling against his face.

Draven had gone unearthly still. His dark eyes lit like black jewels staring down at Hydes bent head.

Talia’s eyes widened as she stared at Hyde, her breath caught in her throat. He was taller, broader and more menacing than the vampire, and yet he knelt.

She had once called him a slave, but seeing him stay unwavering in this posture brought it home harder than anything else could have done. Sitting up, she put the book of Vampiric history to the side. Draven’s eyes flickering to her as she moved. His face softening, becoming more human as he smiled at her.

“My dear,” his voice was warm and placating as he laid a hand on Hyde’s head. “There is no need to fear this beast”

There was no mistaking the tightening of Hyde’s shoulders at Draven’s touch, yet still he didn’t move.

“I know he scared you, but he is mine to command,” moving around Hyde Draven went on. “All werewolves are mine to command, even this beast. A demon halfbreed. Feared throughout the world yet he kneels ........my pet,” He paused for effect, letting his last words hang heavy in the air.

The sound of stone cracking under Hyde’s fist as he tightened it involuntarily. The only response the werewolf Alpha gave to the words spoken over him.

“Your pet?” Talia stepped forward, her red silk dress rustling as she moved. She had kicked off her high heels when she arrived a few hours ago, eager to examine the books on Draven’s shelf. “Or your slave?”

“Both. He is the only one strong enough to run the Titans for me. And they, my dearest love, belong to us. They are our army. Our police and, yes, our criminals.” Moving away from Hyde, Draven tapped him on the shoulder. “Stand,”

Taking her hand, he brought her fingertips to his lips. Shivering at his touch, Talia watched Hyde stand over Draven’s shoulder. The leather of his jacket creasing as he rolled his shoulders. But he didn’t turn. He didn’t look at her.

“But not one of them will ever harm you. In fact, they will die to protect you.”

“Isn’t that true, my wolf?”

Hyde’s voice was a low growl as he answered.

“Yes .... Master,”

“When you decide to stay..”

“If I decide to stay,” she corrected

Draven shook his head with a soft smile. It lightened the darkness in his eyes. Softening his face even more.

“If,” he repeated, “the Titans will belong to you as well. You will be their mistress.”

Hydes head turned a little

“Before you say anything,” pressing his fingers over her lips, he reached into his pocket. “There is something I want you to have. “

Pulling out a ring sized box. He shifted on his feet. For the first time since she had known him, he looked nervous.

“Oh Draven, no,”

Taking a step back, she shook her head. “Its too early. I told you,”

“This is already yours. Well, Navina’s. I know you want me to see you as who are now. So I thought I would give this as a gift. It is yours after all, no matter what you chose later. You can keep it with you always.”

Stepping close, he placed the small box in her hand. Titling her chin up to look at him, he smiled with only the smallest bit of fang showing.

“And if you choose to stay, I will craft you a new wedding ring befitting a queen,” his eyes sincere.
