“And when someone tried to protect me, you almost kill them.”

“Tell me again how much you love me Draven?” Shaking her head “I couldn’t figure out before if you were a man or monster, but you finally showed me what I think I always knew.”

Stalking forward, Draven wrapped his fingers around her arm, pulling her tightly to him. His faces inches away from hers. His dark supernatural eyes firing with power.

“You think I am a monster?”

Her heart thudding loudly in her ears as his grip on her arm tightened, making her to flinch. Forcing herself to ignore the crushing grip, she raised her eyes to meet his. And nodded.

She wasn’t going to let him rule her. She was not one of his vampires; she was not his wife, nor did she ever intend to be.

“Yes. You almost killed Hyde. And for what? To teach me a lesson? S yeah, I think that makes you a monster.”

“That demon that you defend so solidly is nothing more than a bloodthirsty cur. who deserves what he got and more for things you would consider barbaric, monstrous. Demon born and bred. If it wasn’t for my leashing him, he would have done even more damage. He dosn’t deserve your sympathy,” His grip relaxing around her arm as his hands slid down to cradle hers.

“This world of ours is a dark and violent place, filled with death. But it can hold a magical beauty, if you look for it.”

“Your world, not mine,”

“I’m offering to make it your world. To give you the chance to be part of something powerful, be my Queen and I will be your King,”

His mouth was lowering to hers. Turning her face to the side, she felt the coldness of his lips against her cheek, sending shivers down her body.

“I can’t love you” her eyes staring at Hydes jacket lying on the bed.

It had taken what felt like forever to wash their blood out of it. “What you did was too much” his hold on her relaxed, a sigh escaping his lips as she pulled away from his touch.

Looking back at him as she stepped closer to the bed. Her fingers aching to clutch on to Hyde’s jacket like a security blanket. Instead, she buried them into her skirts as she watched him stare at her.

Reaching into his coat, he withdrew a small, ornate silver bottle that seemed to shimmer with an inner light. He turned it over in his hands, studying it, before finally meeting her gaze. His expression was impossible to read.

She stiffened when he came closer, but he simply reached out and gave her the bottle.

“While your magic is suppressed, so are a lot of your other Arcandian traits. “

His voice was soft, resigned.

“I know. I needed stitches” she couldn’t keep the bitterness from her tone. She had never needed stitches or any form of traditional medical help. If it wasn’t for the whiskey that Ghost had kept pouring, she was sure she would be feeling it even more than she did.

“I apologise for the fact that you have been placed at risk. Lycanthropy is something you should never have been exposed to. You should have natural immunity. But with your parents being mortal, I don’t think we should take the chance. “

“That’s what you apologise for?” Her fingers curling around the bottle, she wished she had the power to make it explode into a thousand pieces.

“Not the fact that you humiliated me? Hurt me and almost killed Hyde? But the fact that I might contract lycanthropy?”

“Trust me, being a werewolf is not something that you want.” his face twisting with disdain.

“You would be at the beck and call of your alpha, a breeding animal ruled by the leader of a pack. As my Queen, you rule him, not the other way around. “

Staring at him, she knew her face reflected the shock that she felt.

“I will not be your Queen.”

“You would prefer to be a dog?” His tone was dismissive.

Yes. She realised with a start.

If she had the choice, she would prefer to belong to Hyde than the man in front of her. Hyde made her feel a hundred different emotions, but not once had he ever hurt her. In fact, with him she felt the most cared for than she had ever been.
