Aiden’s tummy growled. Everyone laughed.

“I haven’t really eaten this whole week.” Aiden chuckled.

“Neither has Vivian. Come and sit, let me feed you.”

Minutes later, they were all sitting around Annie’s kitchen table, each with a glass of bubbly.

Aiden stood up. “Before I toast my beautiful fiancée, there is something I have to ask you, Aunt Janice.”

Aunt Janice grinned. “You want me to be one of your groomsmen?”

Aiden laughed. “That’s not it, but it’s a good idea. Hold that thought. What I wanted to ask you was whether you invited me here because you wanted me to meet Vivian?”

Janice was the portrait of innocence. “I have no idea why you’d think that, dear. I didn’t know you were going to hurt your ankle, now, did I?”

Chuckling, Aiden lifted his glass. “If you say so. Whether you did or not, I’ll be forever grateful you invited me to visit Marietta to write about the way you celebrate Valentine’s Day. I shudder to think I may have missed meeting Vivian.” Clearing his throat, he raised his glass. “Vivian, I don’t know why I’m so lucky to be able to call you my fiancée and soon, very soon, my wife, but thank you for having me. I love you.”

Vivian stood up next to him and raised her glass, as well. “I told you why I agreed to be your wife.” She smiled. “With you, I’m home.”

Amidst laughter and Mitch’s whistle, Aiden kissed her.

Janice sniffled. “Copper Mountain has a way of healing all wounds, I’ve heard. I didn’t quite believe it until tonight.” Winking at Annie, she raised her glass. “With a little help, of course.”

Aiden laughed. “Ha, I knew it. You had a hand in this, didn’t you?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Janice smiled. “So, I hear you’re staying at the Graff tonight?”

Chuckling, Aiden pulled Vivian close. “How on earth do you know that?”

“Well, let’s see. Betty told…”

Vivian tuned out the voices around them and pressed her face into Aiden’s shoulder.

He turned to her. “Everything okay?”

“No.”

Frowning, he lifted her chin. “What’s…”

“You mentioned a hotel room?”

His eyes flashed once before he put down his glass. “Okay, guys, we’ll be back later tonight. Or not.” He grinned, looking at Vivian. “But right now, we’re leaving.”

“But we have to talk about the wedding!” Annie cried out. “And you haven’t eaten yet.

“I’m not hungry anymore. And what else is there to talk about?” Aiden asked.

Annie rolled her eyes. “The where, the when, the dress, everything!”

Aiden turned to look at her. “Okay, Vivian, where would you like get married?”

“The Graff?”

“Done. When?”

Vivian looked at Annie, her head spinning. “I… don’t know…”

“June?” Annie asked. “I love a summer wedding.”
