He held up his phone as though it were some kind of explosive and he was going to end us all.
Nope.
He was just going to end me.
With a simple phone call.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” I asked.
“Nope,” Steven said.“I’m calling the police and having you arrested.”

To recap in my mind…
Steven shows up unannounced after we’re through and he demands I marry him.
Then Joe punches Steven in the face.
Not even that hard.
And I’m not even sure if it was a real punch or not.
Steven kind walked into Joe’s fist?
But Steven’s nose explodes all over the place.
And now… Steven is demanding I marry him or he’ll call the police on Joe.
Back to reality, I stood in complete shock as Steven kept to his word.
He called the police and said he was attacked.
“You can’t be a man about this?” Joe asked.
Steven rolled to his front, grabbed the chair and stood up.
He dabbed the fingers of his right hand to his nose. “Look what you did to me!”
“You’re lucky that’s all I did,” Joe said.
He stepped toward Steven.
I put my hand out to keep Joe back.
Steven launched himself up over the back of the chair as he screamed.
The chair tipped and fell to the floor, along with Steven.
Steven let out a gasping sound and then launched himself forward on his hands and knees.
Bethany moved to the side and opened my office door for him.
