The look on his face silenced me. “After all this time, did you really think we wouldn’t come for you?”

I didn’t know. They wanted me. That was always clear. But this was so much more than that. This was the treaty. A delicate balance between supernatural powers, and he was going to throw it away for me.

My mouth opened to ask him if he was sure, and he didn’t let the words leave my lips. “Baby girl, if you ask me if I’m sure, or if you’re worth it, I’ll drag you into this dressing room and spank youbeforeI get you out of this mess.”

That shouldn’t have made heat unfurl in my gut or make me desperately wish there wasn’t iron glitter all across my skin. “Okay.”

“Distract them,” he said. “As long as you can without letting them get close. We’ll be back before the deadline.”

I nodded.

Silver stepped back into the shadows, and I turned away, bracing myself to put on the show of my life.

“Skyla.”

I could see a hazy blur of Silver’s shape in the shadows, and his eyes, molten heat in the color he was named for. “When this is over? Nothing will stop me from touching you.” He smirked. “Not even that glitter you think makes a shred of difference.”

The fae dissolved into the shadows and disappeared, and I was left standing in the darkness, caught between terror and a longing so deep I couldn’t breathe.

Fucking hell.

I’d danced through worse.

Showtime.

CHAPTER FOUR

____________

DELTA

CUTTING CLOSE

Silver appeared out of the shadows, face like thunder. Comet stood from where he’d been leaning against the wall. “What’s going on?”

The President of our club scrubbed a hand over his face. “Worse than we thought. We need to find Kramer. Now. If we’re lucky, he’ll still be alive. Though he might not be when I’m done with him,” he muttered under his breath.

“Want to fill us in on the rest of it?”

Judging from his face, he didn’t want to, but he would. “I’ll give you the details later because we don’t have time to lose finding this asshole. But the short version? The Legion is moving in on our drug territory, like we knew.Kramermoved the shipment for them, and when the Legion didn’t receive that shipment, he gave them Skyla as collateral while he collects the money. But they’re going to do everything they can to make sure he doesn’t make it back.”

Most of that wasn’t a surprise. Except that last bit.

“Why the fuck would he give them Sky?” I asked. Over the last few years, we’d learned about the woman we wanted to be ours. Kramer was a friend of the family, and he looked out for her. Up until this exact second, I’d thought he was a decent guy.

The rage pouring off Silver could be felt. “She’s half-fae.”

Fuck.

“Are you shitting me?” Comet asked.

“Believe me,” Silver said. “I wouldn’t joke about that.”

No one would.

Grave mounted his bike. “No one knew?”

“Not as far as I know. But if the deadline passes and they take her?”
