“Probably hiding from you.”

“Why would they be hiding from me?”

“It’s the new moon.”

I stared at him, and he smirked. “I may not know you, but I do know more than you.”

Gritting my teeth, I stared at him, the intangible power I still couldn’t reach swirling through me. “Tell me where they are.”

His face dropped. “They’re in the armory.”

“Thank you.”

I didn’t know where the armory was, and like hell was I asking that asshole for directions. Moments like this reminded me how new I was to this place. When this was all over, they were going to give me a tour. Or a map. Instead, I went back to the infirmary.

Rocketman looked up when I walked in. “Where’s the armory?”

One eyebrow rose. “Why?”

“Apparently my mates are hiding from me, and I find that unacceptable.”

Amusement glinted in his eyes. “Take a right out of here and find the black door that goes down a set of stairs.”

“Thank you.”

He narrowed his eyes at me. “You need another heal?”

The aches and pains from them were manageable, and I wanted them right now. I felt possessive of them. If I thought I’d been able to keep up with both Grave and Wraith, I would have kept both. “Not this time, but I’ll let you know.”

As soon as I followed his instructions, I saw what I hadn’t noticed, or hadn’t been visible before. A set of buildings which stretched behind the first. The air around them quivered and waved, like I was looking at a mirage.

The sneaky bastards.

I smiled.

That was brilliant. To keep buildings hidden until someone knew about them. I assumed that’s what happened, since I hadn’t seen them until Rocketman mentioned the door.

It was unassuming, and when I pulled it open, stairs disappeared into the depths of a basement. Here went nothing. I descended and opened the door.

The room was an action movie come to life. Guns lined the walls in lighted cases. Knives too. Now that my soul was coming together, I felt the magic that clung to them at the edges of my consciousness.

Ammunition stood stacked in boxes, and enough weapons for an army laid on tables in different stages of assembly. All of my mates were here at different tables. Silver was in the middle of lifting a giant gun back onto the wall. Delta was doing something to a set of blades and—

All of them turned to me as soon as I stepped inside.

My back hit the wall next to the door before I could blink, Grave’s body pressing hard into me. He dragged his nose over my neck and up to my ear, a growl building in his chest. “What are you doing here, sulela?”

He wasn’t angry. No part of me felt afraid or nervous. It felt like desperation.

“I couldn’t find any of you,” I said quietly. “I just wanted to see you.”

Grave groaned, kissing me. “I love you, sulela, but you need to leave.”

“Why? Bookend mentioned the new moon but—”

“Bookendspoke to you?” Silver’s voice cut through the room. “If he touched you, I need you to tell me.”

“No.” I shook my head as Grave took a reluctant step back from my body. “He made it clear he doesn’t like me, and I made it clear I didn’t give a shit because I may not be anything in the MC, but I’m still his queen.”
