As Zayn swims off to find my top, I continually look across the surface to see if I can spot it. It’s seriously nowhere in sight. After a few minutes of searching, Zayn returns to me.

“I’m so sorry, I can’t find it anywhere.”

“What do I do? Walk back to your truck topless?” I ask, secretly hoping this is all a joke.

He gives a half-smile. “I’m not sure what other option we have.”

I take another deep breath. “Okay, let’s swim close to the embankment at least.” My mind starts spiraling and I try not to have a panic attack. What’s the worst thing that will happen? The answer is that maybe twenty or so people will see my boobs. Life will go on after this.

We get closer to the embankment and Zayn pulls my hand for me to float closer to him. He holds me in the water. I can’t imagine how much willpower this man has to have. He’s practically naked with me once again, and there’s certainly no promise of a happy ending.

“Okay so what’s the plan?” I ask him, hoping he has one.

“I—I don’t know. Let me think on it for a moment. I did tell Mason and Natalie, by the way. They laughed for a minute, but they’re trying to find it.”

“Great, I’m never gonna live this down,” I say closing my eyes.

Zayn laughs. “I did tell them that every time you’re with me you end up topless and wet.”

I splash water at his face. “No, you didn’t!”

“Ha ha, okay, you’re right. I didn’t. But it does seem like an odd coincidence that it keeps happening. I’m starting to think this is some big plan of yours.”

I scoff. “Absolutely not. I’m mortified and you’re over here cracking jokes on my behalf.”

“Autumn,” he says, moving closer to me in the water. “In all seriousness, I’m feeling a bit protective. I don’t want anyone else to see you topless.”

My body engulfs in flames at his words. I like that he’s protective of me. I also took note of his use ofanyone elseto see me. Only him. Is it wrong that I don’t mind he’s seen my boobs so much now? Before more inappropriate thoughts creep into my mind, I see a purple bikini top floating next to him.

“Oh my God, Zayn! There it is!” I squeal in excitement and swim towards it. “I’m so relieved.” I swim back to him and ask him to help me get it back on. He hesitates for a moment, but then agrees.

He ties the halter top around my neck as I hold onto the cups, then tries to locate the strings for the back underneath the surface of the water. His hand grazes my breast gently and my cheeks flush with excitement, but he remains focused as he finishes tying the strings around my back. I adjust the front to make sure the cups are secure and turn back to look at him.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can’t even believe that happened.”

He flashes me a sweet smile showing off his pearly whites again. “I can’t either. I’m glad we found it though. Well, somewhat glad,” he teases.

“Let’s get back to our friends. I’ve had enough excitement for today,” I tell him.

“You and me both, missy. That was hard for me,” he admits.

My cheeks flush even more and my body quivers at the thought of him hard again. I think I finally can admit to myself I’m not just falling off cliffs; I’m falling for Zayn, too.

Zayn and I make it to the beach just in time for our parasailing reservation. As soon as we arrive and show our tickets, they get us on the boat as quickly as possible along with another couple on board with us. The two of them, making out and barely coming up for air, don’t notice us until they finally take a quick break. The woman moves her sunglasses from resting atop her auburn hair down to her face. She smiles while shouting over the sound of the boat hitting the waves. “Is this the first time for you guys, too?”

“Sure is,” Zayn answers.

The woman points to the guy she was locking lips with and says, “He and I just got married this weekend. We’re on our honeymoon.”

“Aw, that’s so sweet,” I say. So interesting. Of all the romantic beaches on this earth, who the hell would choose Lake View? Maybe it’s becoming a romantic getaway destination with time.

The boat slows down, and the driver asks which couple would like to go first. The other couple already returned to their intense make-out session; I don’t even think they heard him ask. Or noticed the boat stopping, for that matter.

“We’ll go,” Zayn offers. “That cool with you, Autumn?”

For a second, I’m caught off guard by him calling me Autumn in a not super serious moment. “I’m pretty nervous so . . . let’s rip off this Band-Aid before I change my mind.”

The instructor hears and gives us a thumbs up, so we head over to him at the back of the boat to get strapped in.
