I pressed both hands went to my stomach as I stood up and looked at Lucas.

“Are you?” he softly asked, letting Charlotte pull him toward the pool we had put in two years ago at the house we’d bought just before Charlotte was born.

“I don’t know! I’m a few weeks late, but I haven’t taken a test yet.”

Charlotte dropped Lucas’s hand and started to jump in excitement. “Mommy, Daddy! Come on! Jonathon is ready to go swimming too!”

My mouth fell open, and Lucas took a few steps back. When we looked at one another, we both laughed.

“Twins?” he asked.

“There’s no way!”

At that moment, Kristin came walking into the backyard with Shawn behind her and their two-year-old daughter Kate on his shoulders. She stopped in front of me, kissed me on the cheek, then took a step back. Looking from me to Lucas, she let out a scream. That caused Kate to start screaming and then Charlotte joined in.

“Oh my God! Oh my God!”

I shot a disbelieving look at Lucas before turning back to Kristin.

“Okay, please don’t say anything!” I begged. After all, I hadn’t even taken a pregnancy test.

“Don’t say anything!” Kristin yelled as she gaped at me. “I have to, Hollie!”

Before I could say another word she cried out, “You cut your hair and dyed it! Whatwereyou thinking!”

Lucas and I both looked at each other and laughed.

“This family is crazy,” he said as he pulled me to him and kissed me.

Smiling, I replied, “Just a bit.”

And they all lived happily ever after!
