“Faith. What are you doing here?” Cade asked. He was always good about saving people.

“Just waiting for my dinner to be cooked by Liam and then I’m going home to eat and feed my dog.”

“How is Fred doing?” Cade asked. “I was thinking of maybe having the twins meet him. They keep asking for a dog. No way. But if they see one that is big it might scare them.”

“Cade,” Aunt Jolene said. “That is the stupidest thing because you know Fred is gentle. That will make them want one more.”

Faith laughed. It was the first time her aunt said Fred was gentle. Talk about trying to get on her good side. “Your mother has a point,” she said.

She moved out of Ella’s office and went to see Kendra. “Hi,” Kendra said. “I heard Jolene won’t come to see me because you’re here. I’ll make sure I pack up and leave with you so I can get away.”

“Sounds like a plan to me,” she said. “I’m just waiting for Liam to finish cooking my order.”

“Getting anything good?” Kendra asked. “Well, it’s all good, but what are you getting?”

“Eggplant parm and chicken strips and fries. Got to have the dipping sauces with it for the special.”

Sawyer wanted the eggplant and she was going to have the chicken and share some with Fred.

“They both sound good,” Kendra said.

“How come you got two meals?” Aunt Jolene asked, coming into Kendra’s office. Guess Kendra wasn’t going to be sneaking out.

“Fred has to eat,” she said, laughing and moving away. She’d dropped the mic on that statement and would take it as a win.

“It’s all set,” Liam said when she got downstairs.

“That was fast,” she said. “I was going to sit out in the pub.”

“No reason. It doesn’t take long and I knew you were probably hearing it all from Aunt Jolene. What happened?”

“Let’s say she caught me with the two dinners and I said Fred had to eat.”

“Hmmm,” her brother said. “Is someone else getting that second dinner? I just figured you were going to have leftovers or something for another time.”

Damn it, she slipped. “That too,” she said and grinned. She took her dinners and her brother laughed at her.

“You’ll have to catch me up at some point.”

“Maybe,” she said.

“What are you doing here?”Jolene asked her brother and sister-in-law. “You don’t normally come out to dinner during the week.”

“How did you know we were here?” her brother asked.

“I know everything in my business,” she said. She pulled a chair out and sat at the table in the restaurant. She was just going to leave after getting nowhere with Kendra. She came down and asked Liam a few questions and he said he was busy and she left him alone.

When she was getting ready to leave, Aiden told her that Connor and Lynn were here so she figured she’d come to visit them before she grabbed the dinner order she’d put in with her son to bring home to Gavin.

“You think you know everything with everyone,” Connor said. “But you really don’t.”

“I know your daughter was just here and she bought two dinners. Did you know that?”

She watched her brother and his wife looking at each other. She could read her family well and there was a surprise on their face.

“No,” Lynn said. “What was she buying for Fred?”
