“Won’t security just kick you right off?” I pointed out.

“They’re literally insane if they think that your alphas are going to let you two walk on stage and be bombarded by people that abused you. You need backup. The Forrest pack may be in jail but we all know they’ll still be part of this.”

“We could refuse to go on at all if they don’t,” Bear pointed out. “I can play it up and say I don’t feel safe without the pack there. What are they going to say? I have the medical records and pictures to prove the validity.”

“If you demand to come on stage, I guarantee Candace is going to use it to her advantage. She’ll ask you guys questions and see how you feel about watching clips of me kissing those assholes,” I pointed out.

Ezra and Collin growled in unison at my words.

“That feels like a completely different life,” Bear said. “When I agreed to go on the show, we were all really excited and then as those three months went on, it was like I couldn’t recognize them at all.”

“At that point, you can’t even say fame got to their heads. They were just assholes all along and hid it from you,” Atlas pointed out as gently as possible. “Not to be harsh but you guys weren’t even allowed to see the reactions from viewers, were you?”

“No,” Bear said. “I’m glad we weren’t. The fallout after the show and Ellie walking off stage was bad enough. We were expected to just rejoin the real world and face all the months of comments and judgment of the viewers. That was, apparently, my fault, too, for not going along with Morgan and getting too close to Ellie.” He rolled his eyes.

“Exactly my point,” Atlas said. “They were just dicks.”

The drive continued in tense silence after that, all of us in our own heads about the upcoming reunion.

Pulling up in front of the oldMy Fairytalehouse was so strange. I could still remember the limo circling out front, dropping off all the packs while Morgan and I stood side by side.

Back then, I was naive, hopeful, and excited, a constant swirl of emotions as I watched everybody come in, wondering if I was good enough.

Bear was right… this was an entirely different life. Hell, I was a completely different person then, too.

Leaving my nine to five to go on the show was already out of character for me. I was still grateful that I clung to what made me comfortable and didn’t rush into the dates with all of the packs.

At this point, I barely remembered any of their names. I’d pretty much set my sights on the Forrest Pack from the moment we first talked.

How dumb I was.

“Do you ever wonder what happened to the Sulley pack?” I asked Bear as we stepped outside. “I feel like they were never in the media after this.”

“If I remember correctly, they worked on boats in the harbor. Chances are they just escaped the drama by going to sea,” Bear said.

“Interesting,” I mused. “I never really got to know them. Morgan set her sights on them so I backed off.”

“Let’s go,” he said. “I’m ready to get this over with.”

We linked arms as we headed for the front door. When I left this stage the first time, I never expected I’d be coming back with Bear in tow.

Candace and a slew of crew came out to greet us. She had a fake smile in place as if she was meeting old friends, not people she fucked over.

Cameras were already in our faces and a sour feeling settled in the pit of my stomach. I wasn’t sure I was ready for this but I didn’t have a choice. The cameras were already rolling and we were already walking toward my own version of hell.

“Welcome back, omegas,” Candace greeted, not bothering to use our names. “We’ve got hair and makeup waiting for you both but your pack can head out now. We’ll take it from here.”

“Actually, they’re staying,” I said firmly. “The network hasn’t done a really good job of keeping us safe this far, and I refuse to go on without their protection. Especially after the attack on Bear from other contestants.”

“The network only has your safety in mind,” Candace protested.

“Like when you bombarded me with Morgan and my parents during an interview? That was mentally taxing. Bear was betrayed and lost his pack after this show. You may not be able to have them on set now, but Morgan isn’t in jail, so I would say us having our own pack with us is warranted.”

She studied us both for a moment before cursing under her breath and walking away, speaking quickly into her comm.

When she walked back to us a cocky smile was back in place. I knew I was right in my earlier assessment, she was frothing at the mouth to get her claws into them as well.

“We can handle her,” Atlas said, low enough that we could hear but not Candace and her minions.
