Her jaw dropped and she was still trying to decide whether to laugh or dress me down when Marina sailed into the room. Everything Marina did was smooth and graceful.

“Oh! Hi,” she said shyly. “Sorry, were you waiting long?” She cut a frustrated look at her friend.

“No. Kat was just giving me the house rules,” I replied, winking at Kat, who had finally decided to roll with it and was grinning.

Marina’s curious gaze flicked between her roommate and me. I let mine study her while she was busy. I hadn’t told her where we were going, but I was pleased to see that she was in a pair of jeans that hugged her curves and a top that left both shoulders and her collarbone bare while hanging down to her hips. Her hair was a mass of waves framing her face before dropping down to her waist. The urge to wrap her golden locks around my fist was hard to resist. Something told me neither she nor her roommate would appreciate that. At least not here and now.

“I’ll be back later,” Marina told Kat as we walked out the door.

“I won’t wait up.”

The women shared a look. It was more of a battle if Marina’s narrowed eyes were any indication, but finally we made it back out to where my bike was sitting.

“Have you ridden a motorcycle before?”

“No.” Excitement flitted over her face. That was a surprise to me. She seemed so sweet and…soft. I would’ve expected her to be scared at the idea of getting on a bike. It just further confused me. She was somehow winding herself around me like a vine. She’d been on my mind all day and nothing I did seemed to expel her from my thoughts.

My dick was unreasonably hard considering she was just standing there in a patch of sunlight, smiling at me. The urge to bend her over the railing behind us and fuck her here and now, audience be damned, was strong. Drew was right. It was past time to get laid. The lack of pussy was bad enough. Seeing the excitement and hunger in her eyes was making it almost impossible to control myself around her.

I straddled my bike and spoke to her as I started it up. “You just hang on and let me do all the work. Keep your arms around my waist, and lean with me into the turns. Other than that, enjoy the wind in your face.”

Her eyebrows rose, but she nodded and climbed on behind me. She scooted forward until her body was pressed to mine while she linked her arms around my middle.

I didn’t bother to bite back the groan. It didn’t matter if she knew how her touch affected me. I suppressed the need to push her hands down to my dick.

I’d asked the guys where the best place to take a woman who loved the ocean was. There’d been tips on everything from fine dining down to food trucks. My days of fine dining were long past, so I rode down near Golden Gate Park. One of the guys had told me the food trucks liked to hang out near a surf entry point to Ocean Beach that was just past the park. A lot of the surfers liked to take lunch and dinner breaks at the trucks. Something told me that a food truck plus a walk along the beach was more my girl's style.

Summer was rolling in so the days were getting longer and the die-hard surfers were out in flocks. Didn’t sound like much fun to me, but a lot of the guys in this chapter loved to surf.

I pulled off into a parking area and we walked over to the food trucks. We’d only made it a few steps before I found my hand grabbing hers. Hand holding was usually something I avoided as well, but with her I was doing it without thinking.

My previous old lady had often gotten pissed at me for not showing her enough affection, or so she claimed. Yet with Marina, it came naturally. I convinced myself it was all part of the game I needed to play in order to fuck her. My inner voice called me a goddamn liar. Luckily, I’d learned long ago how to ignore that pesky conscience of mine.

I tried again to convince myself that I was claiming her, grabbing her hand like this. In reality…I liked her touch. Her hand was soft in mine. Nine hours, and already I was getting mushy. Fuck me.

She paused and looked longingly down at the ocean. The beach had more people on it than I’d expected for how late it was getting. There were trucks parked down in the sand, headlights on, pointing toward the water. The sun was starting to sink down below the horizon, setting the water on fire.

Marina shook her head and grumbled under her breath. I lifted her hand and let my lips brush over her knuckles, drawing her startled eyes to mine. That was better.

“What’s wrong?”

“It’s late,” she said, a bit breathlessly since I flicked my tongue out to taste her skin. “They should be heading in before dark. Not to mention it’s double overhead conditions right now. Dangerous.” She shook her head again.

“I have no idea what any of that means,” I told her with a laugh.

She smiled at me and let me tug her toward the food trucks. “It means those idiots down there should be coming in and calling it a day. Instead, they parked their trucks down there to get more surfing in as the sun is setting. If any of them end up out there once it goes down, the headlights will help lead them back to shore. Overhead conditions just mean the waves are taller than them when on the board. So, bigger waves, more dangerous, especially with low light.”

We ordered our food and took it over to a picnic table. “Isn’t that when sharks like to attack too?” I asked, taking a huge bite of my fish taco.

She laughed and poked my arm. “You’re listening to too many rumors. Though, you’re partially right.” She tossed her hair off her shoulders and picked up her own taco. “Sharks come into shallower water to feed during sunrise and sunset. Humans aren’t typically on their menu however. We’re the wrong shape.”

She took a bite and let out a moan that made me freeze, taco halfway to my own mouth. My cock jerked in my jeans at the sound.

“Sorry,” she said, blushing when she realized I was staring at her. I was more hungry for her at this point than the food.
