I tap my chin and make a humming sound. “I wouldn’t be so sure about that,” I challenge him.

With a tug, Theo turns my body toward him as he faces me fully. He cups my cheeks in his hands and looks down at me with so much love and devotion. He’s everything I didn’t know I wanted, didn’t know I could have, didn’t know I needed.

Now he’s right in front of me and I can’t wait to see the look on his face in just a few moments.

“Sarah, I got to marry the love of my life, my other half, today. Today is perfect,” he assures me.

“What if today is also the day you find out that you’re going to be a dad?”

Theo’s eyes widen and I swear he doesn’t blink or breathe for a solid three minutes as he stares at me and processes. I’m not nervous about his reaction. I’m not scared everything is going to crumble around me.

I know he wants this baby as much as I do. We’ve talked about it, and I stopped taking my birth control the day we got engaged.

I didn’t know what to expect or how long it would take. I have no doubt Theo is going to figure out that it was fast, and he’ll be smug as hell about the whole thing.

Theo’s voice booms, “I’m going to be a dad.”

Our family stops in place in the space around us and everyone turns our way. I don’t see as many surprised faces in the group as I would have expected, but then again, these people know how things tend to go down around here—the guys don’t wait, and everyone celebrates the family’s growth.

Theo kisses me so sweetly that my eyes well up with tears. He whispers against my lips, “You’re pregnant.”

“I’m pregnant,” I confirm right before my husband deepens the kiss, not paying attention to the cheering going on around us.

“You were right,” he tells me once he pulls back. “You made today so much better. I love you so much, my wife.”

“I love you, my husband,” I tell him honestly right before our family descends and we’re passed around to be hugged, loved, and celebrated.

Now, with everyone knowing and happy to witness the family growing a little more, today is perfect.
