And he had no one else.

“I’ll… tell you some things. First off, what… what is it you, I don’t know, find so interesting?”

His face was no longer cast down, as his head had flown back and he got the sweetest smile, wide and showing all his teeth. “Goddamn, this is embarrassing.”

“For us both, yeah. I’ve never done this either, Joel. I just got into it and liked it and learned from there. No, that’s not true. I had a couple of guys that taught me some things, the important things, anyway. I can do that for you, but you know, Noah and me, we’re…”

“I don’t wanna be with y’all.”

That was a relief that showed on me, as he looked at me with narrowed eyes and a suspicious grin. “You thought I…?”

“We didn’t know. Noah, well, he thought you might be curious about our… play.”

“Yeah. I didn’t know at first you could see me. Then, I figured, maybe you liked being watched. That’s a thing, right?”

“Oh, it is, but that’s not why. We wouldn’t have wanted you to see… all of it, but…”

“’nough to sate my curiosity?”

Sate? He spoke like he was down on the farm in Texas or something, then to use the word, sate? “Yeah. Tosateyour curiosity.”

“Got it. So, you don’t mind if I… watch?”

“I’d rather we talked about it, but watching… I don’t know, I guess?”

Noah could have been so much better at speaking to him, but he seemed satisfied. “You like it, when… he does that stuff to you, huh?”

That was more my speed. “Yeah. I’m what’s called a submissive. I enjoy bottoming,” I said, though that was hard to get out. “I like… pain.”

“I get it. And… the other stuff…”

God, why couldn’t it be over? “The other stuff, like…?”

“That thing on your head, like a damned ol’ horse.”

He’d seen the harness?“How much have you seen?” I asked it, but then reconsidered. “Never mind. I don’t want to know.”

He chuckled, but didn’t seem as embarrassed. “Well, do ya like it?”

“Yeah. I… like to feel controlled. It’s not weird, it’s…”

“I know. It is weird, but a lot of things are weird. Most people, they think we’re weird, being… you know, different.”

“Gay. The word is gay.”

“Yeah. That. So? I felt weird for a while, then I met other guys that liked guys and it wasn’t so weird. Maybe… this stuff you do… if I try it…”

“Don’t,” I pled. “No, I mean… don’t just go off and trust someone to… do things with you. I don’t want you to get hurt, Joel, that’s all. Right now, besides Noah, you’re my only friend around here.”

“We’re friends?”

His eyes were wide, and he stared, waiting for an answer, which I gave easily. “Yeah. Of course, we are. And I can tell you some stuff, but I can’t show you. Noah… he’s…”

“Jealous. I figured that. He seems the type.”

“Do you like that? Like, you want a jealous guy?”

“Nope. Don’t care for all that. Comin’ into some money, thinkin’ o’ gettin’ my own place. Don’t want some dick spying on me, gettin’ mad if I… you know, play the field some.”
