My blood boils and pounds relentlessly in my ears. “End to the evening?” I repeat.

She releases a frustrated growl. “The girls went to bed and Hulk and I had a short chat. It was five minutes. Nothing happened. He apologised, so did I, and we went our separate ways.”

“Did you kiss him?” She looks away, and I ball my fists tightly. “Did you fucking kiss him?”

“Not in that way,” she begins, and I’m already marching towards the door. She runs after me, slamming her body against it to block me leaving. “It wasn’t like that,” she yells.

“Did his lips touch yours?” I ask, my tone deadly.

“We were saying goodbye,” she argues. “We were putting everything to bed.”

“And to do that you had to kiss?”

“It was a short, quick goodbye kind of kiss. Not a passionate, in love kind of kiss.”

“I don’t know the fucking difference,” I shout.

She pushes up on her tiptoes, cupping my face in her hands. She presses a light kiss to the edge of my mouth. “See, a goodbye kiss.”

Having her so close, feeling her body near mine, begins to relax me and I take a few calming breaths. She senses the change and pulls me in for another kiss, this time letting her lips linger. I part, allowing her tongue to sweep into my mouth. After a few seconds, she pulls away. “In love kiss,” she confirms.

I hang my head. “I don’t trust him,” I mutter.

“Then trust me.”

“He loves you.”

“I don’t love him.”

“He won’t stop. He wants revenge on me.”

She rests her head against my chest. “The world isn’t out to get you, Anton.”

“I can handle the world coming for me, Piper. I can’t handle it taking you.”

She looks up at me. “I’m not going anywhere.”

My heart stutters in my chest. “You’re not?”

“I want to make it work. It means setting ground rules and boundaries, but I want us to try.”

Relief floods me and I pull her against me. “That’s all I want, for us to try.”

“And it doesn’t mean you’re forgiven,” she adds. “I’m still hurting over the whole wedding thing and Aurora.”

“She was a mistake. I promise, it’ll never happen again.”

“To make us work, we have to trust each other. Don’t give me a reason not to, and I won’t either.”

I wake with a start. Piper is on top of me, smiling down with her hair dangling over one shoulder and her naked breasts on show. She rocks against me, and I’m instantly hard. “Where will we live?” she asks.

“Here,” I tell her, moving the sheets so there’s nothing between us.

“What about Ella?”

“I don’t want to discuss my sister right now,” I mutter, watching the way her pussy rubs against my erection.

“There are enough rooms here for us all,” she says.
