“I don’t think we need to worry about it.”
“You don’t want more kids?” Concern tinges his voice and I smile wider, not opening my eyes.
“That’s not it. I’m already pregnant.”
He stills under me and I feel his heartbeat quicken under my cheek. I open my eyes. He touches my chin and lifts it, his eyes searching mine. “We’re pregnant?”
I roll my eyes. “Yes,weare pregnant. Are you happy?”
“I’m so fucking happy.” His face falls. “But that means that you can’t do that movie!” We take turns so that one of us is always home with the kids.
I shrug. “No biggie. I called and talked to them. They’re gonna wait until I have the baby and then we’ll have a nanny on the set. They were very willing to work with me.”
He grins. “Because they know everyone loves you. Especially me.”
He leans down and kisses me and my breath quickens immediately. All it takes is the simplest touch from him and I need him so much that it’s like a fucking ache in my soul.
“I love you too. More than I ever thought possible.”
My eyes close and I feel him slip into sleep. I lie awake and smile, happier than I think I’ve ever been.
I’ve got it all. The man, the family, the career. And all it took was a couple of little words. I love you and I’m sorry.
Sometimes that’s all it takes and you get all your dreams.
