“I didn’t ask about the time it would take you, Bird. I want to know how you plan to kill me first.”

“Actually, I won’t have to kill you. You’ll set me free. You’ll see,” she purred as her fingers wrapped around my side and she pressed her lips to mine. This wasn’t what she wanted, and I was going to show her exactly how stupid she had been for ever thinking she did. She’d waged war against me with her lips, but this was one battle I would make sure she would lose. I pushed my mouth harder against hers, taking my first step to join her on the battlefield she’d unknowingly exposed us both to. The mere pressure of my rough kisses I gave to her was enough to make me want to wince in pain myself, so it was without question she felt it, too. I had never been this rough with a woman unless she wanted it, but she needed to know how serious this situation was. If she didn’t die by my hands, she was bound to be killed by someone else. Especially if she continued to let her smartass mouth run so liberally. My world overran with monsters a thousand times worse than I was. She may not see it right now, but I was doing her a favor. The sooner she fell in line like the good little solider she needed to be, the better. All she had to do was realize what she was and submit. Even though she had no idea what warfare she had unleashed, she was my prisoner of war.

Her tongue wrapped around mine and my grip on reality slipped. Her kisses radiated with the hatred she had for me, and they got harder by the second, demanding she was strong. She wanted me to see her as an equal in the fight. Her teeth sunk into my bottom lip and if I let her, she was going to draw blood. I refused to stop her. There was a saying about things being fair in war and love alike which we were both living by in this moment. My lip throbbed beneath her bite, and I ran my tongue along the edge of her teeth with a devious grin.

She released me at once, the familiar metallic taste swirled on the tip of my tongue as my blood drained into my mouth. A smug smirk played on her face, yet it disappeared fast.

“My turn, Bird,” I said in a voice deeper than before with another knowing grin, wiping a few droplets off my lip with my thumb. Rage fumed through my veins like white-hot fire consuming the thickest piece of metal. My plan backfired. If anything, I had encouraged her perseverance.

“Your turn for what?” Her head cocked to the side, and she took a step backward.

“You drew first blood. I get second.” I smirked, grabbed the back of her head and licked my blood from the corner of her mouth.

“You’re sick. I’ve given you no reason, up until now, for you to make me bleed.” Her hands wrapped around mine and her nails dug into my skin. My grip only tightened while she pulled at my grasp. She started this and I was going to finish it. If I didn’t get her back to the club soon one or all of us would die. Being here in the middle of B.F.E. left us too vulnerable. The Falbos weren’t known for their patience, and they’d find out sooner or later she was alive. Even if Sticks nor I didn’t recognize the men sent to kill her it didn’t mean shit in the grand scheme of things. They were notorious for hiring freelancers to do their dirty work.

“All’s fair when at war with gorgeous fucking clueless birds as yourself, Reggy. And that’s mild in comparison to what I could do to you. Since it seems like brutal fucking honesty is the only thing you understand, sick would be allowing myself to do what I really want to do to you.”

“And what would that be?” she asked. Her voice slightly quivered as she spoke, and yet she squared her shoulders as if trying to convince herself that I didn’t scare the mortal shit out of her.

“Let’s just say it wouldn’t be my blood on my breathe right now.”

Her hands yanked at mine and this time I let her go. Another small grin of satisfaction flickered on her face, but it quickly disappeared. “Why would you go around drinking other people’s blood? I could have some incurable disease.” She coughed to suppress her laugh.

I peered at her over my eyebrows. “Let me spell this out for you again, Bird. Don’t. Push. Me. Does that seem like the kind of thing that would stop me from getting what I wanted?”

“No. You’re a stubborn mule,” she huffed with a shake of her head.

“Fair. But, seeing as you are beginning to comprehend I get what I want, do us both a favor. Keep your smart mouth closed and get back in the damn car.” I huffed, putting a pin in this. Like many good adversaries she was fighting the good fight, but I would guarantee she would break for me.

“Fine, but you’re not drinking my blood now or ever, got that?”

“I make no promises for later, Bird,” I laughed, opened the door and watched as she climbed inside the cab.

“Get up front with Sticks,” I told Maryanne. She surprisingly didn’t argue and climbed over the console, dropping onto the passenger seat. She was most likely too afraid to argue after seeing what happened between Reggy and me. I nodded my head to one side, motioning for Bird to scoot over and sat down beside her. There was no way in hell I was letting a situation like this happen again. I was serious when I said I made no promises for later, but that only applied to other people. This was the last time I would let her come anywhere close to having the upper hand with me. The fucked-up part about it was the way she met me blow for blow. It told me she wouldn’t give into failure without putting up one hell of a fight. That fact both pissed me off and maybe even excited me a little.

Feeling how I felt meant I had a weakness and that wasn’t something I was afforded to have in my line of work. If I let her in, I risked my brothers and my whole damn club along with me. Figuring out why the Falbos wanted so badly for her to be dead was the priority. Finding out the reason had to be my focus. So, it didn’t matter how soft her fucking lips felt as they unleased chaos against mine or the fact that my damned heart was still racing like a hormonal teenager who’d just seen his first pair of tits. When it came down to it, I had to ignore every bit of how she affected me. A very vital part of being in an MC was putting your club’s needs before yourself, and that included snuffing out what I was feeling for the gorgeous problem sitting beside me.

Chapter10

Reggy

“What do you mean she swallowed it?” A tall man barked while barreling through the door.

“She fucking swallowed a bag of coke, Boss,” Stone said with a shake of his head, pressing the tip of his silencer to his temple and rubbing in a circular motion.

“Now why the fuck did you let her do that? Were you watching her with your one-eyed tripod instead of the two normal people to use?”

Although I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about and I was terrified the bag was going to burst in my body at any given second, I laughed. “What in the hell is a one-eyed tripod?”

“Fucker’s dick over here,” the man nodded to Stone. “Heard you were quite the handful on the road here, little lady.”

“That has to be the weirdest pet name for someone’s junk that I’ve heard to date and I have brothers,” I admitted and forced myself to level my breathing out. I’d never done drugs in my life, except if you count a contact high from pot. My heartbeat was already racing. Would I be able to tell if the bag busted or would it make its way through my bloodstream and kill me as soon as it reached my heart? I had no idea how much cocaine my body was able to withstand, but chances were, it wasn’t much.

“I like her. Name’s Viking.”

“I would tell you my name, but I’m sure you already know it.”

“I do and I can also tell by the sweat pouring down your face that you’re afraid.”
